The actor, best knownfor his role as solicitor Joel Deering in the show, shared a heartwarming post on

his Instagram confirming the proposal, and how he needed a little help from his co-star afterwards!

Sharing two pictures of himself and Roberta, the first one sees the couple smiling and hugging at the

camera, with Roberta’s ring on show.

The other, however, is a bit different…

The second image on Calum’s post sees the pair exiting the hot tub. Roberta is wearing a mint green costume with a towel wrapped around her, while Calum is stood in a black one-piece that looks somewhat too small!

He wrote alongside: ‘About time I made an honest woman of her 💍

‘Celebrated with drinks in the hot tub but Roberta thought it would be funny to remove my swimming shorts from the suitcase.’

Highlighting the second photograph, Calum said: ‘Thanks @dolly_rose_campbell for lending me your spare cossie. I think I rocked it tbf.’

Calum of course received many wonderful and kind comments from his co-stars and friends after sharing the news.

Vicky Myers, who plays DS Lisa Swain, said: ‘Congratulations 🥂’ while Emrhys Cooper, who portrays cult leader Rowan Cunliffe wrote: ‘Yay! Congrats buddy. So happy for you both ❤️’.

Back in May, it was confirmed Calum’s character Joel was the person responsible for killing Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton).

As it stands, we currently don’t know what Joel has done with Lauren’s body.

However, with pictures showing Calum, Lucy Fallon (Bethany Platt), and Channique Sterling-Brown (Dee-Dee Bailey) filming outside an abandoned pub recently, there’s every possibility this location might have something to do with the missing young woman.

‘I’m terrified but it’s also a relief. I’ve known this for over a year’, actor Calum Lill said recently, discussing his reaction to Joel’s identity reveal.

‘It was last May that I got sent the breakdown for Joel saying that he was a charming character who’s got a dark side.

‘When I got the screen test they said, “Okay, this is what Joel is going to be doing”. I thought, “Oh my goodness, like this is a really terrible person. And I’ve got to hide in plain sight for a year.”‘

‘It has been difficult – even my family don’t know, they will have found out at the same time as the viewers. I don’t think they were suspicious as they probably didn’t think I could play an evil character like Joel.’
