Coronation Street‘s Chesney Brown received a surprise visit from the police in tonight’s episode.
The popular character (played by Sam Aston) was left stunned after the local constabulary turned up at his door after a day of celebrations. But what has he done?
The episode began with Chesney surprising Gemma with some good news – he’s paid off the last of their bills with Les’s compensation money and had enough left over to book them a week’s holiday to Alicante, Spain.
“Can you do the Tango?” he asked, pulling a pose, with a confused Gemma replying: “No, neither can you, that’s the Flamenco.”
He then shared news of the holiday with Gemma, who squealed with delight. But there’s more to celebrate, with the two joining Bernie, Dev, Aadi, Asha and Summer in the Rovers for more news.
Sat round a table, Dev launched into a speech about the “importance of family”, before Chesney asked him to cut to the chase.
“We’re engaged,” beamed Bernie, showing off the ring, with everyone delighted for the couple.
Back at home, Gemma and Chesney chatted about the engagement, before there was a knock on the door.
Gemma opened it to find the police asking for Chesney, who froze on the spot, stunned.
An officer informed him that they have dash-cam footage of him “tampering with the fuel tank of a van” and said he must report to the police station tomorrow at 3pm.
Viewers know that Chesney’s sugar stunt was a revenge move against a mysterious enemy with a van.
For weeks, Chesney has been tormented by the van owner, who first smashed up his car after blocking him in at supermarket FreshCo after a parking dispute.
Next, Chesney found his tyres slashed and on another occasion, he saw the van lingering outside his house.
Will Chesney be charged for his revenge, and will the identity of the van driver be unveiled?
