SHOCKING NEWS!!! Coronation Street: Corrie Stars Shares Throwback from Sweet Sixteen

Coronation Street star Jane Hazlegrove recently shared a throwback to her last appearance on the soap when she was 16. We thought we only

knew her as the Bernie she is now, but it turns out – she played another major role in this ITV soap. Thankfully, there were pictures, and once

you see them – you can’t tell these two are the same person.

What Jane Shared About Her Past

As we all know, Jane Hazlegrove joined in 2019 as the mother of Gemma and Paul. Recently, she had quite a few busy months on the cobbles as Paul’s death and his husband Billy’s breakdown was in focus. We saw Bernie step up to protect Billy even though she lost her son to motor neuron disease. Bernie stood up like a rock while everything around her fell apart. After such a hard time onscreen, now the actor seems to have some time to recall her past days.

We know Jane has always been a great actor. For a decade, she was seen as a regular on the BBC medical drama Casualty, The Bill to Heartbeat, and more. But what we didn’t know was that she appeared as a 16-year-old in Coronation Street. Recently, the actor took to Instagram and shared, “Sweet sixteen. Coronation Street in 1985, Sue Clayton and her big sister Andrea played by the brilliant Caroline ONeil. Cheers, Corrie.., bought my driving lessons with this gig!” Soon, Sally commented, “Remember it well xxx.”

Jane as Sue Clayton

Back in 1985, Jane appeared as a 16-year-old in the show as Sue Clayton. Even though she appeared only for a short period of seven months, she made quite an impact off-screen. Sadly, onscreen, her role failed to take off. While talking to Metro, she recalled her old days and said, “When I left the show, they gave me a massive card which everybody had signed – including all the legends. Barbara Knox had written: “Good luck, Jane. Remember, rovers always return.” It turned out she was right.”

Even though her role as Sue failed to get to the audience back then – there’s no room for doubt about Jane’s performance. But thankfully, we got her back as Bernie as a Corrie again, and everything just clicked together – nobody could have played Bernie better than her.
