There’s some almighty twists and turns coming up on Coronation Street, with several characters taking centre stage in some huge new storylines.

There’s danger for some with “devastating consequences” too. There’s a possible proposal, while there’s also a shocking and tear-jerking discovery for one fan favourite according to scenes featuring in a new September trailer.

Spoilers have teased big moments for Carl Webster too, and one relationship is about to take a massively “dark” turn. It’s been confirmed that a struggling Theo Silverton will continue to lash out on the show, amid his turmoil.

But he sadly begins to take this out on boyfriend Todd Grimshaw in a worrying abuse plot. Theo struggles to keep his temper in check, and as troubles between him and Todd continue we see Theo using physical abuse.

But how will Todd deal with this, and could it lead to a split? It’s not been revealed how long-running this storyline will be, while it’s clear a troubled Theo needs help following the breakdown of his marriage, his past with Noah being dragged up and him coming to terms with his sexuality.

Elsewhere, and Kit Green may have a struggle on his hands as his teen son Brody Michaelis turns to crime it seems. We’ve already seen Carl Webster hinting at letting Brody in on his car scam, and in upcoming scenes this could lead to danger for one character.

Brody is struggling to stay on the straight and narrow in the fallout of his parents Mick and Lou being sent to prison, and trouble with his younger sisters. Kit, who found out he was Brody’s biological father just weeks ago, is keeping a watchful eye on him.

ButCarl is keen to get Brody to help him out, needing his help with his car stealing scam – also getting fellow teen Dylan Wilson in on it. There’s “devastating consequences” ahead though, but what will happen?

In the trailer, Betsy Swain faces danger as Brody and Dylan speed towards her, but will she be okay? As for Betsy, she has a shock of her own when her stepmother Carla Connor asks her for her blessing amid a plan to propose to Betsy’s mother Lisa Swain.

Betsy looks genuinely shocked at the gesture, before Carla explains she couldn’t imagine her life without her partner. But with two failed proposals already, could this be third time lucky for Swarla?

It seems Carla is keen to propose once more and she wants to get it right this time. But what will Lisa say, and could there be trouble ahead? After all, the trailer ends with Lisa crying and gasping over something in front of her.

Could it be shock and happy tears as Carla pops the question? Or is this fear in Lisa’s eyes, and could it be about Betsy? Perhaps it’s neither of these scenarios, and her big discovery, that leaves her visibly speechless and emotional, is linked to the ongoing drama with Kit and DI Costello, regarding the death of her late wife Becky Swain.

According to the trailer something shocks her enough to drop a glass of wine all over the floor. All will be revealed very soon!
