Coronation Street has aired Bethany Platt’s exit from Weatherfield as Lucy Fallon leaves the soap temporarily to go on maternity leave.
Back in August, Fallon announced that she was expecting a child with her footballer partner Ryan Ledson and the couple welcomed a baby daughter named Nancy earlier this year.
In recent months the soap has been gearing up for Bethany’s temporary exit from the cobbles to pave the way for Lucy’s maternity leave.
Recently it was revealed that Bethany had been offered a job at a magazine in London and she and her on-off partner Daniel Osbourne were planning to move to London together.
However, Daniel and Bethany recently broke up after Daisy Midgeley revealed that Daniel could be the father of Daisy’s unborn baby.
Tonight Daniel called in at Sarah Platt’s flat hoping to persuade Bethany not to leave by talking her round and giving him another chance.
Sarah told Daniel that he was too late and Bethany had already gone, saying: “She’s already gone. Sorry. To be honest though I don’t really think there’s anything that you could’ve said.”
Sarah handed Daniel a card from Bethany in which she had written the message: “Thanks for showing your true colours”.
“That’s it. Instead of saying goodbye or writing me a note, she goes to the effort of buying this,” Daniel said to Sarah, who told him the card was just a spare one they had lying around.
As a dejected Daniel left the flat, Bethany came out from the bedroom where she had been hiding from Daniel. Later, Sarah and Adam Barlow waved off Bethany’s cab, wishing her luck as she left for her new job in London.
Elsewhere, the soap confirmed who was responsible for the Platt family house fire after a flashback revealed it was Shona’s stepson Max Turner.
