Coronation Street has aired a huge Toyah Battersby health update.
It was revealed during Wednesday’s (August 21) episode that Toyah’s recent surgery was successful after
she’d been diagnosed with germ-cell ovarian cancer.
There were initial signs that Toyah could face more health issues due to complications during her surgery, but she eventually recovered.
Toyah and Nick teamed up in the aftermath of her surgery to shut down The Institute boss Rowan Cunliffe’s attempt to blackmail them by threatening that they’d report him to police for extortion.
Nevertheless, Toyah decided in the latest instalment that any romantic feelings between herself and Nick would need to be stifled to get Leanne away from the cult.

Nick insisted on going with Toyah to her post-op assessment, where she received the wonderful news that her surgery had been a success.
This meant that Toyah would no longer have to undergo chemotherapy treatment, as she’d originally feared.
Back at home, Toyah explained to Nick that she wasn’t sure how to process the news since she’d been thinking about the cancer non-stop for weeks.
“Now, you don’t know what to do with your thoughts,” Nick replied.
While Toyah laughed off Nick’s suggestion to “give fate the finger”, they held hands and shared a glass of “something cold and sparkling”.

Nick confessed he was completely unsure of what they’d do when Leanne got back from her sabbatical, but Toyah encouraged him to “live in the moment”.
“Let’s just enjoy… being together,” she suggested.
