Coronation Street star Bill Fellows has confirmed his exit from the show after rumours he’d be bowing out after three years. The actor first
appeared on the ITV soap back in 2021 as Stu Carpenter.
Viewers were first introduced to the character when he inadvertently saved the vital piece of evidence which showed that Corey Brent was
guilty of the murder of Seb Franklin months earlier in May 2021.
Shortly after the significant breakthrough in the tragic hate crime case, Kelly Neelan, who had been wrongfully convicted of Seb’s murder, was released and unexpectedly encountered Stu on the streets.
After settling back in Weatherfield, Kelly came to Stu’s aid, and he has since found his own place on the street, living with Yasmeen Metcalfe and working as a chef at her restaurant, Speed Daal.
Recently, Corrie fans have witnessed Stu uncovering the truth that he was framed for the murder for which he was imprisoned by his ex-wife and daughter. He also had to say goodbye to his granddaughter Eliza as she left for Germany to live with her dad.
It would seem life hasn’t been the same for Stu in Weatherfield and he’s now turning his focus to helping Weatherfield High bully Mason Radcliffe turn his life around.
But recently taking to Instagram, actor Bill shared a picture of a leaving gift from his co-stars as he confirmed his exit. Bill revealed he had received a portrait of himself signed with sweet messages from the cast.
Captioning the post, the 67-year-old wrote: “Nice parting gift with a top-quality bottle of Champagne x.” Bill’s co-stars quickly reacted to the post.
Elle Mulvaney, who plays Amy Barlow in Corrie, commented, “Going to miss you at work!!” along with crying emojis. Nina actress Mollie Gallagher added, “Gonna miss you,” while Cait Fitton, who portrays Lauren Bolton, said, “We will miss you.” Jack Webster star Kyran Bowes also chimed in, saying, “Love this @fellows9690; you will be missed.”
Now, spoilers have revealed that a potential murder twist could be on the cards. Next week when Kit Green and PC Craig Tinker study CCTV from a train station car park and see a missing Joel Deering and then his dad, Gus, around a locker. Kit then interviews Gus and demands some answers.
But later, on a riverbank, three lads spot a body floating in the water. Craig approaches DS Lisa Swain and Kit and announces that they’ve found Joel’s body. Kit steals himself to break the news to Dee Dee and Lauren at the hospital while Lisa breaks the news to people in the Rovers.
Kit returns to the hospital and informs Lauren that the post-mortem revealed Joel was already dead before he entered the river, indicating a murder investigation is now underway. He then questions Lauren about her whereabouts on the night of Joel’s death, September 27th, while Dee-Dee informs Ed and Ronnie Bailey that Joel was murdered.
Later, Kit reveals to Lisa that Joel died from two blows to the head caused by a heavy weapon, likely a crowbar. Lisa is taken aback when Yasmeen Nazier tells her that she expelled Mason Radcliffe from her home because he had a crowbar. Betsy becomes curious when her mother warns her to stay away from Mason.
Betsy goes on to warn Mason that the police are onto him. And as a result, behind the factory, Mason disposes of the crowbar in a bin but is caught in the act by Kit. How will Mason get out of this one? And will it lead to Stu’s eventual exit from Weatherfield? Only time will tell.
