Coronation Street aired one of its biggest cliffhangers of the year on Monday (19 May) as Craig Tinker was attacked and left for dead by evil Mick Michaelis.

The dark scenes played out as the ITV soap prepares to wave goodbye to the character of Craig following his 14-year stint.

1. Craig is found in a bad way

Maria finds Craig at the Weatherfield Precinct, covered in blood after Mick’s brutal assault.

An ambulance is called and Asha is on duty, leaping into action to help her friend and neighbour. Much like Mason’s stabbing at the start of the year, it’s an incident that feels close to home – will Asha be able to cope?

2. Lisa arrives on the scene

Lisa turns up at the Precinct and is shocked by the severity of her colleague’s injuries.

Craig struggles to explain exactly what happened, which will leave fans worried that Mick could remain a free man for longer. Will there ever be justice?

3. Craig is admitted to intensive care

As Craig arrives at the hospital, the upsetting reality of the situation dawns on everyone as he’s rushed straight into intensive care.

Craig has been drifting in and out of consciousness, but he tells Asha that he knows what happened to him and wants to get the message across.

His long-time police colleague Jess tries to ask questions, but Craig’s condition suddenly deteriorates.

4. Is it the end for Craig?

While Corrie bosses have stopped short of confirming Craig’s fate, they have revealed that this is his exit storyline. This seems to suggest that he’ll be killed off (sob!) or flee from the cobbles if he survives his injuries.

Colson Smith, who plays Craig, recently told us: “I can’t wait for people to see Craig’s final scenes. It is exactly the exit I wanted for him and we are all really proud of what we filmed in those final weeks.

“It was actually great fun. I was walking around covered in fake blood for days and I was chuffed that I got to work with so many brilliant people in this final storyline.”

A statement released by the show added: “Has PC Tinker reached the end of the thin blue line? With Craig’s life hanging in the balance, viewers will see him fight for every breath.”

5. Lou heads to hospital

Lou decides to take her young daughters Shanice and Joanie away for a few days following her own frightening ordeal with Mick.

Tim picks the family up in his taxi and notices that Lou has a nasty cut on her head. He insists on taking her to A&E so she can be checked over.

The nurse quickly realises that Lou must be in an abusive relationship. Lou decides not to speak about Mick’s violence, and as emotions run high, she flees from the hospital and leaves the girls with Tim.

6. Sarah is next to face danger with Mick

Sarah is shocked when Mick follows her into her flat.

She orders him to leave, but Mick threatens to stay put until Kit makes an appearance.

7. Mick plots a murder

As Mick continues to blame Kit for all of his problems, he makes a dark threat to kill his old friend.
