Just shy of two decades since her last appearance, Sadie King is set to stage an almighty return to Emmerdale, with Patsy Kensit reprising her role as the deliciously manipulative Home Farm schemer.

The absolutely top tier character was everything that the ITV soap was in need of in a post-Kim Tate era when she made her debut in 2004 and, with a penchant for causing trouble wherever she went, she proved a real hit with viewers.
Introduced as the wife of Jimmy King (Nick Miles) – who had arrived with his clan just months prior – Sadie wasted little time in making her presence felt, arriving in true Home Farm style on a helicopter.
From the off, it was clear that her heart wasn’t really in her marriage and she would go on to have an affair with Robert Sugden – and later, her own husband’s brother Matthew.
One of her most memorable stories saw her deliberately drive a wedge between Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) and patriarch Tom King after learning that the now-owner of the Woolpack was set to marry into the family.
When Tom broke things off with her as a result of Sadie’s meddling, Charity famously got her revenge on Sadie by embarking on an affair with Jimmy, recording a conversation with him as he admitted to Sadie’s schemes on a VHS tape, which Charity screened in front of the entire family.

Subsequent Sadie stories included her having a role in the now social media famous King’s River Show Home collapse, which triggered numerous stories and led to three major deaths – including that of Bob Hope’s daughter Dawn Woods – as well as a revenge plot waged against the Kings. And of course there was that romance with Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley)!
Sadie would leave Emmerdale in 2006 but she left such an impression on viewers that 20 years on, fans still hope for a return -especially following the comeback of original Home Farm queen Kim Tate (Claire King). And Emmerdale looks set to finally grant their wish, with Sadie set to stage a comeback later this year.
‘This signing has been kept a top secret as bosses want Patsy’s return to shock fans,’ a source told The Sun, who originally reported the news.
‘She is apparently delighted to be get her teeth back into the meaty role.
‘Scriptwriters want to keep the show going with explosive plots and divisive characters.’
Metro has contacted Emmerdale for comment.
As for what brings Sadie back we’ll just have to wait and see but it’s safe to say that, with a number of her foes and ex-family still left in the village, there’s plenty for star Patsy to come back for.
Will Sadie and Charity’s feud reignite? How will Cain react to his ex-lover’s return? How will Jimmy – or worse, Nicola – react, for that matter? And will we see Sadie and Kim – two Home Farm icons from two very different eras – finally face off?
In addition to Emmerdale, Lethal Weapon 2 star Patsy also starred in EastEnders, playing Emma Harding – the estranged mum of Lola Pearce – in 2023.
Emma left the Square after she had slept with Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) in a story that resulted in the patriarch’s marriage to Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) coming to an end.
