Former Coronation Street actress Tracie Bennett has received an outpouring of support from fans following a recent operation.
Tracie, who portrayed Sharon Gaskell on the ITV soap from 1982 to 1984 and again in 1999 and 2021, updated her followers on social media.
She shared that she had undergone an eye procedure at Moorfields Eye Hospital and was now recuperating with a bandage over her eye.
“Hello everybody, here I am reclining in my bed, waiting to receive visitors when I can see them,” she started. “I can’t see anything at the moment.”
Expressing gratitude for fans’ well wishes, she said, “I didn’t mean to cause a thing, but yeah, I’m okay. Moorfields were just spectacular, the best eye hospital in the world,” reports Leicestershire Live.

She light-heartedly commented on her large white bandage, wishing it were a “red sparkly one”.
“I don’t think they understand showbiz there, and quite right too,” she added.
Introducing her teddy bear into the frame, she continued: “However old you are, you always need a Winnie the Pooh, this is my Winnie the Pooh, he’s been everywhere with me, and no doubt he’ll carry on so.
“He’s been all over the world, cheering me up, and keeping me warm over winter.”

She wrapped up by saying: “I’m sure I’ll be able to see – not very well at the moment – but I’m sure I’ll be able to see once I play Tallulah in The Code, and that’s not a plug, I’m just saying, I don’t want the director worrying or anything.”
She captioned the video: “Thanks for being lovely everyone and for your concern. I’ll be Reet! Bless ya…really kind of you.”
Tracie will portray Tallulah Bankhead in The Code at Southward Playhouse Elephant this September, appearing alongside former EastEnders actor John Partridge.

After her time on Coronation Street playing Sharon, the Faircloughs’ foster daughter, Tracie has taken on numerous stage roles, featuring in the musicals Hairspray, Les Misérables, and End of the Rainbow.
She’s also appeared in Casualty, Doctors, and The Bill.
Supporters flooded the comments section of her X post with messages of encouragement, with one fan penning: “Wishing you a speedy recovery, gorgeous lady, and you’ll be back in rehearsals for your new show soon. Best wishes, Michael x.”
“Wishing you a speedy recovery, Tracie. Get well soon. Thinking of you xx,” another added.
