Coronation Street‘s David Platt could be set up by his criminal accomplice Andy in worrying new scenes.
David made a disastrous mistake late last year when he stole some dirty money, which had originally been taken in a robbery organised by Harvey Gaskell and Damon Hay.
When David started receiving threats from Harvey’s associates, he turned to desperate measures in order to pay the money back.
This has included a job serving as the getaway driver in a robbery and taking part in other criminal activity alongside Andy in exchange for money.
In scenes set to air on the ITV soap next week, David tells Shona that he’s been doing some home-visit barbering to make some extra cash. However, as soon as she leaves, he makes a call to Andy.
The pair meet up and Andy pays David for the latest job he took part in, before David tells him that he needs as many jobs as possible.
During the conversation, Andy locks eyes with a boy who is watching them and gives him the nod. Has Andy set David up? And what will the consequences be?
Speaking in December about David’s dark storyline, Corrie producer Kate Brooks said: “I love the Platts for many reasons. They’re funny, they’re brilliant and they feel like a real family.
“What I’m keen to show is that this is Corrie. David’s a hairdresser and he’s not used to being embroiled with drug barons and gangsters. That’s not his world.
“But what happens if you take a guy who’s very ordinary and put him in a world where people are acting and reacting without any thought or consequence? It’s really important to show how a normal fella reacts to all of this.”
