Coronation Street may just have dropped a hint about its upcoming big murder mystery set to kick off in April when Betsy Swain discovers a body â with a departing character potentially in the lead to meet their maker.
The ITV soap previously announced it will air a murder mystery when Lisaâs daughter Betsy finds a body. While the identity of the victim is still under wraps, five characters â Megan Walsh, Theo Silverton, Carl Webster, Jodie Ramsey and Maggie Driscoll â have been teased in connection to the whodunit.
In tonightâs episode, however, a character thatâs not part of the quintet has commented on their own demise, leading to speculation that they might kick the bucket next.
On the day of Jim McDonaldâs funeral, a grieving Steve is comforted by partner Cassie Plummer, though she and his ex-wife Tracy Barlow couldnât stop bickering.

During one of their bantering exchanges, Tracy asks Cassie if sheâd ever envisioned her own funeral and wondered who would turn up to pay their respects. Cassie replies that the function would be âpacked to the raftersâ.
âUnlike yours,â she then adds to Tracy.
This sounded like nothing more than a passing comment on a first glance, but all is fair in soapland, so Cassie better watch her back. Could she be part of the upcoming Corrie whodunit?
Cassie star Claire Sweeney announced her departure from Corrie in January. The star will trade TV for the stage, as sheâs set to play iconic antagonist Miss Hannigan in musical Annie.
âWe wish Claire every success playing Miss Hannigan and congratulate her on being offered a role she has long wanted to play,â a Coronation Street spokesperson said at the time.
âCassie will be on the cobbles until the summer during which time she will continue to make her presence felt in Weatherfield leading up to a great exit storyline.â
