Emmerdale star Lawrence Robb has stated that he doesn’t think Mackenzie Boyd and Charity Dingle have much of a future together.

The couple hit the rocks after Charity offered to be a surrogate for granddaughter Sarah Sugden, despite previously telling Mack that she didn’t ever want to be pregnant again.

Though the pair made amends, Charity is hiding the fact that she cheated on him with Ross Barton – and Ross could in fact be the baby’s father.

Next week, things get even worse when Charity forgets an important anniversary. Following a blazing row, Charity kicks Mack out. Is this the end for them as a couple?

“Well, it’s not looking good,” Robb said. “There’s always a lovely element of saying ‘never say never’ but I think because both characters feel so strongly – you can see it from both points of view.

“I think it’s a tricky one. I can see completely where Charity is coming from and that she wants to do something for her granddaughter and Charity also feels somewhat responsible for her granddaughter not being able to have a baby, because it was her that gave the green light to remove her uterus, when things were not going well in the operation.

“They had to perform an emergency hysterectomy surgery on Sarah. They had said ‘if we don’t do this, she could die.’ And so Charity agreed. But I think that has caused a rift for Charity and Sarah.

“So I think her reasoning for agreeing to be a surrogate, is somewhat stronger than maybe it would have been before that. I can see the reasoning behind both characters’ actions.”

Robb also added that Mack is devastated at Charity forgetting the anniversary because it’s a worrying sign for the strength of their relationship.

Earlier this week, Robb addressed the rumours that his character Mackenzie Boyd is set to be the next target for serial killer John Sugden.

Although he didn’t give anything specific away, he did say: “If and when the time for Mack to leave comes, whether that might be my choice or the choice of the writers/producers, I’ll be thankful for the time that I’ve had.”

“Ultimately, no one is safe in the show, certainly not in Emmerdale,” he added. “It’s the most dangerous village in the country.”
