EastEnders fans have been left relieved to discover that Bernie Taylor (Clair Norris) isn’t going anywhere.
The popular character hasn’t been at the centre of the Walford drama lately and therefore she’s not been featured, which left viewers concerned over her absence.
But a post on EastEnders’ official Instagram account confirms that she’s still very much a part of the BBC One soap, with star Clair Norris – who made her Albert Square debut in 2017 – pictured alongside Vinny Panesar co-star Shiv Jalota.
‘These two, just hanging out at the Panesars!,’ read the post, with a snap of Clair and Shiv smiling for the camera.
Fans were quick to share their relief at confirmation of Bernie’s return, with one writing: ‘Awwww love Bernie!!! More scenes of her gossiping in the caff please!’
Another Instagram user added: ”I love this. I’m really hoping we get some Bernie scenes with the Panesar family unit.’
Bernie was last seen on screen on March 24.
That appearance came after a month of absence, with the live episode to mark EastEnders’ 40th anniversary on February 20 being her last prior to that.
The character was embroiled in a huge storyline last year when she uncovered the truth behind brother Keanu Taylor’s (Danny Walters) demise.
Keanu, as viewers will recall, was killed by Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) on Christmas Day on 2023, with the Queen Victoria landlady coming to the rescue of best friend Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean).
With the help of four other women, the two covered up Keanu’s death, burying his body in the cafe where Bernie worked.
Bernie eventually worked out that the characters – known to viewers as The Six – were responsible for her sibling’s demise and, despite everything, she kept shtum.
