Emmerdale has revealed Gail Loman’s exit storyline – six years after her first appearance on the show.
Gail makes her departure in Wednesday’s episode, which is streaming early on ITVX ahead of the episode airing on ITV1 later today.
In emotional scenes, Gail decides that the time is right for her to move away from the village following the breakdown of her relationship with Ryan Stocks.
The couple once seemed set for a happy future together, but Gail realised that they were no longer compatible this week as a Mr & Mrs game at Mandy Dingle’s salon exposed cracks in their partnership.

Gail shocked Ryan by announcing that they were no longer in love, and in Wednesday’s episode, she sticks to her guns by insisting that there’s no way back.
“My dreams don’t align with your dreams,” Gail tells Ryan in a final heart-to-heart at The Woolpack.
“Last night, when I was lying awake on Marlon’s sofa, I realised: I’m living your life. Your home, your pub, your family. No-one around here takes me seriously, so where does that leave me?”
She adds: “I spoke to my mate Frannie about that job down in Devon, running her dad’s B&B, and she said it’s still mine if I want it.”

While Ryan is heartbroken by Gail’s choice, he soon has to accept her decision to leave the village – and their relationship – behind.
Rachael Gill-Davis originally appeared as Gail in 2019 and became a show regular in 2023.
Back in March, it was revealed that Gail would be leaving the ITV soap, with the door left open for a possible return in the future.
Emmerdale fans can see Gail’s final scenes tonight at 7.30pm on ITV1, or right now on ITVX.
