EastEnders favourite Colin Salmon has teased major drama ahead for George Knight as tensions rise between his on-screen brother Kojo Asare (Dayo Koleosho) and Harry Mitchell (Elijah Holloway). Speaking about the brewing storyline, Salmon revealed why George has been feeling uneasy about the pair’s blossoming friendship.

‘George has been worried about Kojo going off and being independent because of the promise he made to their brother Kobina to look after him,’ Salmon explained. ‘I also think there may be a little bit of jealousy from George towards Harry because he can see how close he is with Kojo. George is happy Kojo has a friend but sad that he’s on the outside of this bromance.’

With Kojo’s birthday approaching, George is determined to make it a day to remember.

‘This is the first time George has been able to celebrate Kojo’s birthday with him, and it’s a big milestone in their relationship,’ Salmon said. ‘He also gets the chance to give Kojo a present that means a lot to him, so it’s special to George to have these moments.’

However, the hopeful plans quickly unravel when George gets pulled in another direction.

‘He gets sidetracked by Nicola because she’s upset,’ Salmon revealed. ‘Although George has cooled things off with her, it doesn’t mean he doesn’t care. He’s not the kind of guy to get involved and then drop someone. Nicola trusts him, so when she opens up about what she’s going through, he’s there for her. Unfortunately, that means he’s too late to take Kojo out.’

Could Nicola and George be the next surprising couple in Walford?

‘They are an interesting combination!” Salmon admitted. ‘I think George feels like he’s 14 again when he’s around Nicola and he’s feeling a spark.’

The drama takes a darker turn when George later finds Kojo in a worrying state in the Square.

‘He goes into an absolute panic,’ Colin said. ‘It’s George’s worst nightmare, and he immediately assumes that Harry is to blame. He knows Kojo wouldn’t take drugs, so he thinks he’s been spiked or tricked. Kojo hates drugs, and George knows that, so he points the finger at Harry straight away.’

So why does George suspect Harry?

‘George has met a lot of lads like Harry over the years he’s run bars,’ the actor explained. ‘He can see Harry could be involved in drugs. That doesn’t mean George is being judgmental, as Gina has had addiction problems, but he knows when someone’s not being truthful. What’s really sad is he doesn’t realise Harry is actually trying to protect Kojo.’

But George’s protective streak may backfire when Kojo pushes him away.
