EastEnders will air even more turmoil for Sonia Fowler as another character returns ahead of Martin Fowler’s funeral.

We already know that Martin and Sonia’s daughter Bex will be back, with the same actor reprising her role, while niece Vicki will also return, played by a new actor and with a boyfriend and a child in tow.

Now it’s been confirmed that Brenda, the mum of Debbie (the ex-wife who Reiss Colwell killed and then blamed on Sonia), will also be returning.

In scenes set to air next week, as Reiss’ funeral approaches, Bianca Jackson worries about Sonia after recently realising how much she is struggling.

Bianca then meets up with Kathy Beale, and they discuss whether Sonia should go to Reiss’ funeral or not. After Kathy offers some words of wisdom, Bianca tells Sonia that she thinks she should go.

However, Bianca’s words fall flat and Sonia says she won’t go.

Later on, Sonia is shocked when Brenda turns up and the two share a heart-to-heart.

Then, on the day of Reiss’ funeral, Bianca attempts to lift Sonia’s spirits by arranging a surprise baby shower at Harry’s Barn. Unfortunately, Nicola Mitchell makes a badly judged remark, and things take a turn for the worst.

The show’s executive producer Chris Clenshaw recently stated that Bex’s return is coming at the right time, as “Sonia needs her eldest daughter more than ever” and Bex will have gained “renewed wisdom and experience” in her time away,
