EastEnders has aired a surprising outcome for Cindy Beale after her threat to Kojo to keep her affair with stepson Junior quiet is revealed.
A fraught Cindy met Junior in the cafe where he shared his concerns for Kojo’s wellbeing after seeming “upset” and “quiet” after coming out of his coma.
Cindy decides to come clean to her lover, telling him that she was with Kojo when he fell and later threatened him in hospital as she was scared he’d reveal their
secret affair. But Cindy isn’t telling the full story.
An angry Junior headed to the hospital where he persuaded George to go home so he could chat to Kojo alone. When Kojo woke, he told Junior he knows about him and Cindy but “doesn’t want to cause trouble”.
“I don’t want to be sent back to Ghana,” Kojo added, initially confusing Junior, before he realises that Cindy threatened his uncle with this consequence if he revealed their affair.
“I’m so sorry, she should never have said any of those things,” Junior responded. “And I promise you, no-one is sending you away ever.”
He told Kojo that what he and Cindy have is “special” but gave him the option to reveal their affair as he trusts his judgement.
At the Vic, Cindy saw a somber George who told Elaine that he won’t go on honeymoon until Kojo appears better or is at least talking.
A sympathetic Elaine decided they will both go and see Kojo in hospital to try and cheer him up and get him talking again, as Cindy watched on terrified.
At the hospital, Kojo opened up to George and Elaine and admitted “there is something I have to tell you”, before the scene cut away.
Cindy caught up with Junior in the pub after his hospital visit, where he confronted her about her Ghana threat.
“I did what I had to do, don’t make me out like I’m some kind of monster,” she replied.
Junior revealed he was able to convince Kojo that nothing bad was going to happen to him, causing Cindy to panic: “You were supposed to close it down”.
Kojo refused to emotionally blackmail his uncle, much to Cindy’s disdain.
“I know what you did,” George said as he arrived back at the Vic with Elaine, who addressed Junior and Cindy.
George confirmed that Kojo has no memory of the accident and thanked Junior for making Kojo feel safe and loved. They also shared that Kojo told the newlyweds to go on their honeymoon, as Junior would look after him while George and Elaine are away.
Cindy and Junior breathed a sigh of relief, with Junior admitting he felt “a rush” at the idea of the two almost getting caught. The two celebrated by sneaking off for another tryst.
