EastEnders has confirmed an exciting change for Honey Mitchell, though she may have to work that little bit harder to enact it.
Since her wedding to Billy earlier this year, Honey has taken up a role as a market inspector in Albert Square. In a stroke of luck, the head market inspector, Mr Lister, announced his intentions to retire in the near future.
Though he delayed the move in order to secure the future of the market, the development marked a notable opportunity for Honey, and she has weighed up whether she wants to take the next step in her career.
She’ll take the plunge in next week’s scenes, with the character preparing to apply for the role as she meets with Mr Lister in the café. There could be a twist on the cards, however, as Zack Hudson gets job news of his own – did he apply for the same role?

“Honey is looking to climb the career ladder, and decides she wants to step into Mr Lister’s shoes when he finally leaves his post as head market inspector,” our Walford insider reveals.
“But curiously, Zack also receives important job news next week! Has he applied for the same role as Honey, and if so, who has been successful?” they added.

While Honey and Zack could potentially be in a battle for the same job, there may be romance in the air for Zoe Slater when she makes a full-time return to East London, with the character set to be joined by former flame Anthony Trueman.
“I’m not sure for Zoe,” teased actor Michelle Ryan, who returned to the BBC soap earlier this year after a 20-year absence. “I think there’s a chance, but there’s also a chance with other men.”
