Coronation Street fans have only just realised where they recognise the actor who plays Noah Hedley from.
Noah (Richard Winsor) made his first appearance on the ITV soap earlier this year, and it was revealed he had a past connection with scaffolder Theo Silverton (James Cartwright).
Opening up to new boyfriend Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce), Theo explained that Noah was a man from his church who practiced conversion therapy on him.
Moreover, seeing Noah brought back painful memories for Theo – who has lived his entire life struggling with his sexuality.
And this week on Coronation Street, Noah was back on the cobbles and caused even more trouble for Todd and Theo, reports Leicestershire Live.
In Monday’s episode (July 21) during a romantic Bistro date with Todd, Noah cornered Theo and called him a sinner, before handing him a leaflet.
Nasty Noah then insisted they he could “save his soul” if Theo attended a meeting at the community centre. In a heartbreaking turn of events though, Theo appeared to consider it.
And in Wednesday’s instalment (July 23), Todd found out about the meetings and headed to the community centre to confront Noah in which the pair ended up scrapping.
However, amid all the drama going down on the cobbles, fans have recently been left floored after realising where they have seen actor Richard Winsor before.
Before joining Corrie, Richard featured in the BBC’s enduring medical drama, Casualty, portraying A&E doctor Caleb Knight. Richard graced the cherished programme from 2014 until his character met his demise in 2017.
Beyond Casualty, he also took on the role of Father Francis in Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks, a character perhaps most notably remembered for his romantic entanglement with Carmel McQueen (Gemma Merna).
On a Corrie Facebook fan page, one person said: “Welcome to the cobbles, Noah Hedley! Played by Richard Winsor.” Someone else then said: “It’s Cal from Casualty!” A third chimed in: “Omg I never realised.” Another also added: “Thought I recognised him.”
Discussing his departure from Casualty, Richard revealed to Digital Spy: “I’ve had a wonderful time, but after three and a half years of doing great storylines. I decided that I wanted to find new challenges and explore new places in the world.
“I wouldn’t have left if I hadn’t felt satisfied with my time on the show. I got some wonderful storylines over the years and I got to work with some amazing actors, but I was ready for different things.”
