Coronation Street teenager Betsy Swain is facing a dramatic fight for her life in a devastating new storyline.
The shocking scenes play out in Tuesday’s tense episode, which sees Rob Donovan’s hostage plot come to a head.
Last week, viewers saw Rob return to the cobbles and convince his ex-partner Tracy McDonald to let him stay with her at No.1.
The escaped prisoner promised to stick around for just one night, while he finalised his plans to flee from the country for good.

Sadly, it soon became clear that Rob really had other ideas. Tracy was alarmed when she realised that the dangerous killer had armed himself with a gun, and was seemingly more interested in seeking revenge against his sister Carla Connor.
In Tuesday’s episode, Rob forces Tracy to lure Carla to the house under false pretences. Carla pops round after Tracy makes out that she wants to discuss a business proposition, but she’s terrified to come face-to-face with her brother again.
Tracy and Carla then fear for their lives as Rob – who’s seriously ill after the kidney transplant and his recent fall – holds them both captive and makes sinister threats.
There’s a ray of hope when Tracy manages to escape out of the back door and raise the alarm to Carla’s partner Lisa Swain.

After calling in the incident to her colleagues at the police station, Lisa puts herself at risk as she bravely enters the house to be by Carla’s side in her hour of need.
Lisa takes decisive action by finding the right moment to distract Rob and wrestle the gun from him. A shot rings out and the armed police team force their way inside, leading to Rob’s arrest.
Just when it seems like everyone made it out unscathed, Lisa and her colleagues are horrified to find Betsy outside, lying in the ginnel with a gunshot wound. It’s revealed that Lisa’s daughter was caught in the crossfire when the gun went off.
The synopsis for Wednesday’s follow-up episode reads: “In the hospital waiting room, there’s an anxious wait…”
Will Betsy survive?
