As if the road to happiness hasn’t been difficult enough for Carla Connor (Alison King) and DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers), littered with potentially-corrupt ex-wives, wayward daughters and trauma, it seems as though another obstacle may have cropped up in Coronation Street next week.
In the aftermath of Craig Tinker’s (Colson Smith) murder, Lisa popped the question to Carla, though was kindly rejected as Carla wanted the proposal to come from a place of love, not grief.
When Carla planned her own proposal with a ring in a glass of champagne, she was scuppered when Lisa admitted that ex-wife Becky had proposed identically.
Next week sees the couple continue their run of ‘almost’ engagements as both plan their own proposals, but the spectre of Becky threatens to continue haunting the couple, even after Lisa decided to let her investigation into the corruption allegations against her ex-wife go.
DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts), still deeply suspicious of DI Costello (Daon Broni), informs Lisa that Logan Radcliffe’s (Harry Lowbridge) uncle has been arrested.
Lisa mentions that when Carla visited Logan to learn more about Becky’s potential corruption, he sent her on a wild goose chase with nothing more than a name that led to nothing: Tia Wardley.
Kit blanches and later finds out that Logan was segregated in prison for a fight following his visit with Carla, later researching the mysterious Tia on the police computer.
Kit’s suspicions are further aroused when he overhears Costello discussing evening plans with Lisa.
At the Bistro, Carla and Lisa are interrupted by a mystery woman who approaches them and introduces herself as Tia Wardley, suggesting that she’s well aware that they’ve been looking for her.
