Coronation Street‘s Todd Grimshaw is forced to go cap-in-hand to Theo Silverton for more money next week. It’s the only way he can afford to buy his controlling boyfriend a birthday present, but as ever, Theo shows little sympathy.
While Theo obliges and hands over some funds, Todd finds himself in a major dilemma when he ends up in need of a big cash injection…
“Theo has been dishing out dosh as and when Todd needs it – making sure that he leaves Todd with nothing beyond his basic needs,” our Corrie source reminds us.
“With Theo’s birthday approaching, Todd knows that his boyfriend will expect a gift, so faces the humiliating task of asking Theo to hand over the cash for his own present.
“However, Theo does put some conditions on this…”

Theo gives Todd £200 but insists that it should also cover a birthday meal out. Todd realises he’ll have to budget carefully, but just as he’s working out how he’s going to make the cash stretch, he gets a shock via an alert from his phone.
Todd is horrified to read a message telling him that his account is in arrears and his mobile network service has been suspended until he pays his bill.
“Todd is already isolated enough from the world thanks to Theo’s manipulations, so to lose his phone will leave him completely out in the cold,” our insider continues.
“But will he risk Theo’s wrath if he uses the birthday cash to hold onto his lifeline?”

Corrie fans know that Todd and Theo’s story is one to watch over the next few weeks, as the show builds up to its intriguing death mystery on 23 April.
Theo has been named as one of the five characters who could be killed off on the day of Carla Connor and Lisa Swain’s wedding, as teased in a recent flashforward scene which saw Betsy Swain being quizzed by police after finding a body.
The same episode included a moment where Todd ominously held a knife as he reflected on Theo’s abuse.
Carl Webster, Jodie Ramsey, Maggie Driscoll and Megan Walsh are the other four characters who could lose their lives in the storyline.
