EastEnders has made two very topical last-minute changes to its latest episode.
Fans will know that the BBC soap films a while in advance – though it has been known to add in scenes filmed at the last minute.
One of those took place in last night’s episode, where a conversation between Callum Highway and Elaine Peacock made references to the Lionesses’ triumph in the Euro 2025 semi-finals and the death of Ozzy Osbourne, both from this week.
In the scene, the two characters bump into each other outside the Queen Vic, noting Kat Slater’s recent takeover of the pub.
Elaine then declares: “I can’t be too down after that England match. I mean – 2-1?”

Referencing goal scorers Michelle Agyemang and Chloe Kelly, she adds: “I tell you something, there’s gonna be a lot of kids named Michelle and Chloe in nine months’ time!”

“It will be weird watching the final without you behind the bar,” Callum then notes, Elaine joking: “Also, tell Kat to put a swear pot in front of Mo on Sunday. She’ll be able to retire!”
The scene also subtly references Osbourne’s death earlier in the week, with his band Black Sabbath’s song ‘Paranoid’ playing in the background.

In other EastEnders news, former star Lin Blakley has revealed that she was asked to reprise her role of Pam Coker for the show’s 40th anniversary earlier this year, though she had to turn it down due to scheduling issues.
“It’s funny because at the beginning of the year, February, I was just about to go on holiday and the guy in casting rang my agent and said, ‘Ask Lin, I want her to come back in for three eps with the hope of maybe coming back in permanently,'” Blakley she told Isolation Interviews.
“But it never happened because I couldn’t. I had a friend I was going away with and I didn’t want to let her down, so I didn’t.”
