EastEnders has revealed Alfie Moon’s secret plan to find Zoe Slater – and it involves telling another huge lie.

This week, Stacey and Alfie have tried to support Zoe and find out what she is running from, but Zoe was adamant that she didn’t want her mum Kat involved.

But while oblivious Kat got so close to reuniting with her daughter, Zoe ran away, later saying over the phone that she’d done something unforgivable.

In today’s episode, Kat and Alfie prepared to go to the registry office and make their marriage official, but Alfie was distracted by the Zoe situation.

Alfie called round to see Stacey, who told him that Zoe had used her credit card to book a flight to Barcelona.

He suggested that they follow her to Spain to try and keep her safe, but Stacey made it clear that Alfie would need to do this on his own and would have to keep it from Kat.

Back in Walford, Alfie lied and told Kat that he needed to go to Australia for two weeks, as his brother Spencer needed support. Kat was furious and grew tired of him abandoning his family.

Alfie later decided that he would stick around after all, and after some advice from Tommy and Kathy, it looked like he was about to tell Kat the truth about Zoe.

But he stopped in his tracks when Kat declared that if it turned out he was lying about Australia, their relationship would be over.

As Alfie brought up the past, Kat got emotional talking about Zoe – and this confirmed to him that finding Zoe was the right thing to do in the long run.

“I love you, Kat Moon,” he said, “and I’m going to give you everything you want. I’ll do everything in my power so you can be the best mum… for all your kids.”

Kat then encouraged Alfie to go to Australia after all, urging him not to let her down. The pair made a joyous trip to the registry office, then Alfie said his goodbyes.

As Alfie headed to the airport, after pledging to bring back the “best present ever” for Kat, he phoned Stacey and confirmed that he was going to Barcelona to bring Zoe home
