A FORMER EastEnder’s star has revealed the huge sum he was paid per episode but it’s bad news for the current cast as they lose out on mega bucks.

Rory Jennings took a step down memory lane on a podcast as he told fans exactly how much he totted up from the famed soap.

The 42-year-old told viewers he made a whopping £1,000 per episode.

He would also rake in nearly double for episodes shown on the Omnibus.

Rory said: “It worked out I was on £1,000 per episode but this is, remember this is way back in the day so you had the Sunday repeat.

“Do you remember the Sunday repeat, you had the Omnibus on Sunday, so they would do basically for people who were hungover I think, from about 12 till 3 or something like that, they’d do all the EastEnders through the week on a Sunday repeat.

Speaking on The Fellas’ podcast he added: “You would get 80% of your fee again, so you’d get a grand an episode and then 80% for the Sunday.”

It appears to be quite misfortunate for current stars, missing out on a major cash grab.

Eastenders‘ Omnibus was scrapped back in April 2015 as it was reported the viewing figures dramatically decreased.

The former soap star left the show in September 2007 after a short two month stint.

But when he starred as Craig Dixon he said theoretically, “you could be in four episodes a week which would be £4000 and then you’d get 80% per episode [for the omnibus].”

The dad-of-two could have made roughly £6,000 a week.

Rory’s character, Craig, was a troubled youngster, who grafted in Ian Beale’s chip shop.

Craig was written out of the BBC show after he committed a string of criminal offences.

The chip shop assistant most notably attacked fan’s beloved character Patrick Truman after a brutal argument over the sale of booze.

He also groomed Ian’s daughter Lucy and eventually ran away with her.

To top it all off, he was put in shackles for attempting to murder Patrick and for possessing a firearm.

The drama served as a definitive end to Rory’s time on the show, it’s reported he was brought in as a guest actor for the that specific, gripping plot line.

Rory, who has nearly 400,000 subscribers on YouTube, most notably appeared in Tom’s Midnight Garden, The Fast Show and All About George.

He has since closed his acting chapter going on to make a name for himself in the world on football punditry, hosting his own show on talkSPORT.
