Days of Our Lives’ Melissa Reeves explained that her current life would not exist if she had take a different path in life.
Super couple Jack and Jennifer have been adored by Days of Our Lives fans for ages. While they haven’t been on the canvas all that much in recent years, the two return when they’re needed and for important events. With the 60th anniversary of the show coming up in November 2025 and the all-important tribute to the late Drake Hogestyn happening in June, it’s all hands on deck. So, we’re sure to see the couple back in Salem. Melissa Reeves opened up about how playing Jennifer has been truly a life-altering experience.
DAYS Set the Course
Reeves lives with her husband, Scott Reeves, who plays General Hospital’s Steven Webber on a recurring basis, in Nashville. She recently talked to Woman’s World, where she revealed that living on a farm was a dream the couple had for a long time. And that dream would not have been possible without the interesting path her life took.
Initially starting as a dancer, with dreams of one day appearing on stage in Cats on Broadway, she explained that she initially became an actor to fund her dancing career. She soon landed the part of Jade Perkins on Santa Barbara in 1984 and had no idea what the journey into the soap opera world would do for her. She eventually joined DAYS to become the iconic Jennifer Horton and realized, “That dream was over, but I found a better, completely unexpected dream. I look back now and realize it set the course for my entire life.”
Their Life is Quiet
When Scott played Jake Hogansen on DAYS in 1988, history was made as he and Melissa found love, got married, and began raising a family. They shared the dream of owning a farm with lots of animals. It’s a life that, as actors, they never dreamt it would be possible. “But then my husband started doing music in Nashville, and I was at work so much,” she stated, adding that by 2006 they had decided to “Move to Nashville and give our kids a different life.’ And they’ve loved it.”
And life away from Hollywood has been good for the couple and their family. She enthusiastically explained, “We have five grandbabies, with a sixth on the way, and we live way out in the country.” As such, Reeves found she didn’t need to wear makeup all that often, so returning to DAYS occasionally was a nice change of pace. “It is a treat when I get to come to DAYS and get my hair and makeup done!” she remarked. “Our life is very quiet, very sweet, but I still have this incredible show I get to come be on.
