Coronation Street star Beth Nixon has said one of her co-stars is her ‘favourite person on earth’ as her possible exit from the long-running show looms.
As those who follow the ITV soap know, the actress made her debut in the role of Megan Walsh last year. She was announced as Will Driscoll’s athletics coach, who ended up moving to Weatherfield after the teen refused to leave Hull when his dad, Ben, bought the Rovers Return for his partner, Eva Price, as she made her return to the cobbles after seven years away.
But it wasn’t his training that Will didn’t want to leave, as it was revealed he was in a secret relationship with Megan, with the pair going on to sleep together just as he turned 16. Megan has since discovered she’s pregnant, telling Will, who isn’t her only victim, as viewers were also introduced to another teen, Will, who admitted to sleeping with Megan, the baby is his.
However, as viewers have witnessed, Megan and Will’s secret has come spilling out. It took Sam Blakeman, who has already tried to catch the groomer out, being hospitalised for the truth to out, and now it’s been left to the Driscolls to get what they need to bring Megan to justice.
Despite playing the villain on-screen, Beth has shared how she couldn’t have been more welcomed into the cast as she shared the support she has had from her castmates.
Speaking to Inside Soap, she said: “I love all the Driscoll family. I always go to Cath [Tyldesley, who plays Eva] for advice. Rob Mallard [who plays Daniel Osbourne] is my favourite person on earth. He was so welcoming and we have such a laugh together.

“It’s obviously a really dark subject matter, so to be able to have a laugh while being professional and doing a good performance, it’s hard to find that sometimes.”
It comes as Beth’s time on the cobbles could soon come to a tragic end. Megan has been named as one of the possible victims of a murder on the cobbles in April, with Betsy Swain the one to discover the dead body of one of her neighbours on the day of her mum, Lisa Swain’s, wedding to Carla Connor.
The news was confirmed in a flashforward episode which aired in February and showed the shocked and anxious teen telling detectives about finding the dead body of someone she knows. Dressed in wedding clothes, she explained she had been at the Connor-Swain wedding, but was heading into town to continue the celebrations when she made the shocking discovery.
As the episode returned to the present day, Corrie viewers started to see how the behaviour of the five characters could lead to their possible death – with Megan Walsh, Theo Silverton, Maggie Driscoll, Jodie Ramsey and Carl Webster seen as the potential victims, each showing behaviours that could lead to them being bumped off.
Later, as the same episode came to a close, it again flashes forward again to April 23rd and the five characters were seen on the cobbles as Lisa and Carla’s wedding fireworks light up the night sky. As the lights flickered, a battered and bruised Carl, frantic Jodie, a menacing Maggie, a bloody-nosed Megan and a furtive Theo were seen staring into the darkness.
