Now that Days of Our Lives’ Shawn and Belle are divorced, the two are free to see whomever they want. While Shawn finds himself kissing various Salem women, Belle has completely dived back into things with EJ. They seem to be an unlikely pairing, and EJ is probably just using her. However, there’s definitely an attraction between the two. Martha Madison recently revealed how Belle gets weak in the knees when she’s near the DiMera scoundrel.

There’s No Room for Logic or Reason

Lately, EJ (Daniel Feuerriegel) has been angry because he was ousted from his job as district attorney, and Belle replaced him. Interestingly enough, the two have agreed that they’re going to fight for the position as EJ continues to try and maneuver things so he can reclaim the job. Yet, they keep finding themselves under the covers together.

Madison opened up to Soap Opera Digest about this strange dynamic. She explained that Belle was caught off guard by the romance “because I don’t think she sees EJ as someone who has feelings [laughs].” She explained that while Belle treads carefully in this new relationship, she’s also thrilled because the storyline is more about Belle going on instinct. However, “I don’t think this is a story about logic and reason,” she remarked.

It’s Not a Love Story

The DAYS star also noted that while Belle realizes there’s no trusting EJ, she also has difficulty trusting her own instincts. For Belle to start a romance with her rival and someone who’s proven himself to be ruthless and untrustworthy, Belle finds it troubling because “she is a really smart person who’s making really dumb decisions.”

At the moment, the whole Belle and EJ story has very little romance. While they tend to gaze into each other’s eyes and smile, clearly enjoying their time with one another, it seems like they’re falling in lust rather than falling in love. “I think this really is more a story about Belle’s own self-exploration than it is about a love story at this point.”
