In a shocking turn of events, EastEnders’ Shireen Bashar murder mystery took an unexpected twist when Nicola Mitchell (portrayed by Laura Doddington) confessed to being the murderer.
Earlier in the week, gangster Benji (Carl Prekopp) was apprehended for Shireen’s murder after he was discovered unearthing her makeshift grave at Paradise Park, Dartford.
The police were alerted to Benji’s activities by Teddy Mitchell (Roland Manookian) but soon after, detectives arrived at their residence seeking answers from Nicola.
During the episode aired on 1st May, a distraught Harry (Elijah Holloway) grew suspicious of his mother’s involvement in his girlfriend’s death four years prior and confronted her at Harry’s Barn.
Harry demanded the truth and expressed his grief over losing Shireen. His sorrow turned into rage as he threatened to set the bar ablaze, claiming he had nothing left to live for, reports Plymouth Live.

Teddy made a timely appearance just as Harry was about to assault his mother, managing to prevent him.
Driven to her limits, Nicola admitted that she had hired Benji to intimidate Shireen, believing she was overseas until recently.
Harry also discovered that Teddy had tipped off the police about Benji to protect Nicola from being implicated in a crime she didn’t commit.
He vented his anger at both his parents for their deception, having been treated as the main suspect in Shireen’s murder for the past four years, leading to another violent confrontation.

In a moment of solitude, Teddy comforted Nicola who inadvertently confessed her wish that she had never involved Benji in moving Shireen’s body. This slip made Teddy realise Nicola had not been truthful with him or Harry about the events surrounding Shireen’s demise.
Nicola belatedly confessed to Teddy: “We had an argument, and she fell,” adding, “and there was nothing I could do. It was me, Teddy. I killed her. It was an accident, I swear.”
Feeling betrayed after defending her and aiding in concealing the offence, Teddy was infuriated, leading Nicola to question what he planned to do next.
Complicating matters further is Teddy’s ignorance of the fact that his cherished son Barney (Lewis Bridgeman) is actually the child of Zack Hudson (James Farrar).
Anticipations are rife amongst EastEnders enthusiasts, with some speculating that the revelation of Teddy’s dark history may drive him to seek retribution against Nicola for the sake of his sons.

One viewer surmised on social media platform X: “Nicola finally told Teddy, what will he do next #EastEnders.”
Another prognosticated: “Just wait when Teddy finds out that Barney isn’t his and then he should be done with her 4 good #EastEnders.”
Calls for dramatic action were voiced by another, urging: “Go on Teddy do her in #EastEnders.”
While one more added: “I can’t wait for the day Teddy REALLY snaps. He brutalised Zack. He now knows Nicola killed Shireen and put Harry through hell. When he eventually finds out Barney isn’t his, we’ll see a living version of [The Wise Man’s Fear].”
Meanwhile, another person expressed trepidation: “The truth about Barney is going to send Teddy over the edge. I’m not ready for the fallout.”
