Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) pops the question to Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) in Coronation Street

wedding to Jesse Chapman (John Thomson), love is in the air outside as Daniel decides to get down on

one knee.

To make matters worse, he’s harbouring deep-rooted feelings for his ex Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) – who was cruelly attacked with acid on their wedding day.

In the aftermath, she fell for Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott), who had shielded her from receiving more substantial injuries. She began catfishing him, pretending to be his one-time flame Crystal.

When he found out, he was furious but they later went onto have a fling. As their affair was exposed, Daniel was left heartbroken.

Enter Bethany, who had spent a number of years working as a journalist in the capital and wanted to settle back in with her family in the Salford town.

As she was out of work, she immediately set about finding a story to progress her journalistic career.

After learning about Daisy catfishing Ryan and their subsequent relationship, she used underhand tactics to record troubled teen Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) talking about the incident and proceeded to put pen to paper.

The magazine exposé was revealed to everyone in the Rovers and she ultimately lost her job. Her blossoming relationship with Daniel was also up in the air, especially as he admired Daisy’s maternal outlook in son Bertie’s life.

Feeling inferior to the other woman in his life, Bethany jumped at the chance to have some free cosmetic surgery in Turkey – totally unaware that the op would go horribly wrong and she’d risk losing her life to sepsis.
