It has been quite some time since Scott has been seen on General Hospital, and longtime fans are still wondering if Kin Shriner will ever reprise the role again. The actor continues to interact with fans on Twitter/X, and has recently responded to their queries about his status with the soap.
After Shriner posted about the anniversary of Luke and Laura’s wedding, a fan wondered when he was coming back to GH. Unfortunately, he replied simply: “No plans.” And when another asked if he was coming back, he responded: “No.”
Shriner was cast as Scott Baldwin on GH back in 1977 and played the character on and off until 1993. He reprised the role in 1997 on the soap’s spinoff, Port Charles, and in 2000, returned to GH again, remaining until 2004. During his times away from Port Charles, Shriner has appeared on multiple other soaps including Texas, Rituals, The Bold & The Beautiful, The Young & The Restless, and As The World Turns.
In 2007, he returned to GH for another year, then again in 2013, for many years. In May 2023, his fans grew concerned when he posted on social media that Scotty had been written out of GH, but since then, the actor has continued to make recurring appearances here and there.
The last time Scott was seen on air was in the Aug. 16, 2024 episode where the attorney was supposed to get the pharmacist who had helped Ava tamper with Sonny’s bipolar meds to safety. But Jason got to Clement first and Scott took off to call Agent Cates and warn him that Jason had interfered with his plans.
With Robert currently out of town, some fans have suggested Scott could be brought back as the acting D.A., and others have noted that Diane is now single and ready to mingle again. But Shriner doesn’t seem to think that he’ll be back on the soap anytime soon. “Thank you for the interest in Scotty,” he shared, “but I have no control over anything that goes on at GH.”
Hopefully, this will turn out like it did last year when everyone worried that Shriner was no longer a member of the GH cast and Scotty will just show up unexpectedly to get mixed up in the drama in Port Charles again. In soaps, you never know what might be around the corner, so stay tuned!
