Sam McCall has been an integral part of the General Hospital scene for the last 21 years. After a

successful stint on the GH spinoff Port Charles, Kelly Monaco immediately began bringing Sam to life on

General Hospital.

Through romances, tragedy, marriage, divorces, and children, Sam has seen everything a soap opera heroine should, but by fall, she will be gone.

General Hospital will never be the same

Fans were devastated when news broke that Monaco had been let go from the soap she’s called home since 2003. Learning Sam would be killed off just added to the shock.

After Steve Burton returned to GH in March, some fans held onto hope that Jason and Sam would reunite. Those hopes have been dashed, but Jason won’t be the only character affected when Sam dies. Her death will cause a ripple effect throughout Port Charles.

Dante Falconeri

Dante and Sam have been happy together for the last three years and have created a blended family with Rocco, Danny, and Scout. Despite Lulu still hanging on to life, Dante has pledged his love to Sam.

However, GH is reportedly looking to recast Lulu, meaning she will eventually wake. With Dante suddenly single, he will be free to reunite with Lulu, but will Sam’s memory keep him from doing so?

Jason and Danny Morgan

Jason and Sam may not have been together since 2021, but that doesn’t mean they didn’t once love each other—nor does it mean they have no regrets about not being able to make it work. Jason will mourn Sam in his own stoic way, but he will also have to finally be a father to their teenage son, Danny.

Danny will likely be lost without his mom. Is his dad equipped to take care of him, or will Danny end up in Grandma Monica or Grandma Alexis’ care?

The Davis Girls

Sam’s mom and sisters are already going through enough. The baby Kristina was carrying for Molly and T.J. just died, with Molly blaming Kristina for the fall that led to her daughter’s death. Alexis is trying to keep it all together, reminding Kristina about the importance of sisterhood.

How will Alexis, Molly, and Kristina handle another unexpected death, especially Sam’s death? Alexis will have to deal with the death of a child. Could she turn to the bottle once again as her two remaining daughters try to navigate a new normal with bad blood between them?

Drew Cain

At one time, Drew believed he was his twin brother, Jason. Drew and Sam fell madly in love with one another, married, and had a little girl they named Scout.

When the real Jason returned to Port Charles, Drew and Sam split, but Drew still wanted her back in 2021 when he returned from the dead. Now, Drew will become a single dad to Scout and have to live life without Sam.

After more than two decades, Sam’s impact on GH is undeniable, and the lives of Port Charles citizens will be impacted for years.
