Days of Our Lives is a little low on rootable couples these days. Jada is about to marry a Rafe imposter, Brady and Ava are barely getting started, Leo and Javi met two minutes ago, and Holly is acting like she and Tate are some Romeo and Juliet level meant to be star-crossed pairing, rather than a high-school case of puppy love that’s already imploded at least twice. We don’t have anybody to cheer for. That is, until Marlena walked into her daughter’s bedroom…

Before and After

Wasn’t it just the night before when Belle (Martha Madison) was claiming EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) as her most ill-advised hookup? (Note: she didn’t say it was BAD, just ill-advised). Guess she either got over it real quick, or she wanted to make sure it was a bad idea.

Now and Then

So, Belle slept with EJ again. And, yup, she still thinks it’s a bad idea. Though, when her mom tried to slut shame her, Belle was all, “Uh-uh, I’m a big girl and can totes do what I want!” All Marlena (Deidre Hall) could say was Belle wasn’t to bring EJ under the Black roof again. But she couldn’t control what her daughter did outside of it.

Hope and Faith

So, is it wrong of us to hope that Belle and EJ keep seeing each other? Because here’s the thing: those two are hot together. And not just hot. They’re also funny. They banter, they snark, they are, dare we say it, entertaining? So many Salem couples are suffering right now. And we get it — it’s a soap; angst is the name of the game. But it’s so nice to see some sparkle motion for a change. And, don’t worry, if Belle and EJ need to ramp up the drama, just bring Sami (Alison Sweeney) back into the picture…
