Chaos erupts in Walford when a nightmarish ordeal at the police station pushes a troubled teen to the edge. Avani struggles to cope after being strip-searched for drugs, setting off a chain of dangerous events that leave her life hanging in the balance.

It all begins when Avani, along with her friends Lily Slater and Amy Mitchell, decide to skip school in an attempt to lift Lily’s spirits following the devastating loss of her father figure, Martin Fowler. The trio is spotted enjoying burgers by Avani’s mother, Priya, who, despite initially disapproving, chooses to stay silent after seeing her daughter’s good intentions. Priya has been grappling with her own grief after Nish Panesar’s passing, and in a moment of understanding, she lets them be.

However, things take a dark turn when the girls run into Avani’s former vape dealer, Marvin. This time, he’s offering something far more dangerous. Before they can process the situation, the police arrive, questioning why they aren’t at school. Marvin makes a run for it, but in his haste, he drops a bag of drugs. Suspicious of their involvement, the officers detain Avani, Lily, and Amy, taking them to the station for further questioning.

As Jack Branning and Jean Slater rush to the station to collect their daughters, Avani is left without anyone to advocate for her. She is informed that a full-body search is necessary, and despite being given the option of having an adult present, she refuses, opting to go through the humiliating ordeal alone. Two female officers conduct the search, leaving her shaken and deeply distressed.

Back on Albert Square, Jean informs a completely unaware Suki Panesar and Avani’s family of what has happened. When Suki finds out, she immediately rushes to be by her granddaughter’s side. However, Avani refuses to lodge a formal complaint, wanting nothing more than to forget the entire traumatic experience. But the pain lingers, and soon, her emotions spiral out of control. Overwhelmed, she lashes out at those closest to her, including Priya, who is then accused by Suki of being a terrible mother for allowing Avani to skip school in the first place.

As tensions boil over, Avani tells her family she’s heading home, but instead, she sneaks off to the park, desperate to escape her reality. Alone and vulnerable, she turns to alcohol, drinking heavily until she loses control. Meanwhile, word spreads that Avani has vanished, sending Priya and Ravi into a frantic search. When they finally find her, Avani is unconscious on the ground, her fate uncertain.
