A Coronation Street favourite was rushed to the medical centre in recent scenes after a vicious assualt.
Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) has been sleeping rough since the revelation that she had been drugging and stealing from Ken Barlow (William Roache).
With Ken unwilling to give evidence against her, Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) was horrified that she was being allowed to walk free, and decided to get her own back.
After offering vulnerable Cassie a meal, Tracy played her ace and presented her with a bag of drugs.
Tempted, Cassie snatched the drugs and stormed out, though she later threw them away without taking any.
However, the temptation had already taken hold, and in today’s episode she used the money Evelyn Plummer (Maureen Lipman) had given her for a hotel to buy more.
As she was making the exchange with her dealer, she was interrupted by a concerned Roy Cropper (David Neilson), who refused to let her continue with the purchase.
Though Cassie warned Roy to stay out of it, he refused to ignore the situation, threatening to ring the police.
During their argument, the dealer took the opportunity to run off with both Cassie’s money and the drugs, causing her to fly after him.

As she fought to get her money back, he pushed her against the wall, causing her to bang her head.
Roy was immediately concerned, and though Cassie insisted she was fine, he refused to leave her alone without first escorting her to the medical centre to be checked over.
With Cassie having been seen by a doctor, attention turned to trying to get her life back on track, as Evelyn made it clear she was going to stand by her daughter.
Will Cassie manage to stay clean and build bridges with the people she’s hurt?
