Coronation Street star Sue Devaney has teased that the Webster family drama could derail Debbie and Ronnie’s wedding day.
Abi is currently cheating on her husband Kevin and having a sordid affair with his own brother Carl. With Tracy having now discovered this betrayal, it’s been confirmed that more people will start to discover the truth in the coming weeks.

Kevin and Carl’s sister Debbie currently remains in the dark, but she is likely to find herself caught in the middle of her two siblings when the affair is eventually exposed.
Speaking to us at an exclusive photoshoot for the Inside Soap Awards 2025, Sue gave us an idea of how Debbie might react to finding out the news about Abi and Carl.
“That’s a tough one,” she said. “It’s not just having an affair with somebody in the street; it’s having an affair with the brother – that’s heavy. How’s Debbie going to find that? I think she’ll do some arguing and some shouting. I don’t think she’s going to take that lying down, knowing Debbie!”
Debbie recently got engaged to partner Ronnie at Dev and Bernie’s wedding, and there’ll soon be celebrations on the cobbles once again. But what does Sue hope for her character’s big day?
“To walk in the high-heeled shoes, that’s one of my hopes!” she laughed. “And to say all the vows in the right order and to have all the family there not arguing – because that’s all we ever do, we argue and we fight.
“So it would be nice to get through a wedding with no arguments fights, just a very happy day. But it’s a soap, so is that going to happen? Who knows.”
Sue was taking part in the Inside Soap Awards photoshoot to celebrate her three nominations – Best Actress, Best Partnership alongside Vinta Morgan (aka Ronnie) and Best Family as part of the Websters.
Corrie is currently playing out Debbie’s harrowing early on-set dementia plot. The soap is taking its time to tell this story, and Sue has previously confirmed that it will be playing out until at least 2027.
When asked if she’s already thinking about the end of Debbie’s tragic story, Sue simply replied: “I’m not. I’m thinking about the journey, and working with all the amazing crew and cast and people that work at Corrie, because I just love it.”
Reflecting on her impressive three awards nods this year, Sue said: “Debbie’s journey with dementia has only just started and it’s ongoing, so to be nominated for an award when we’ve literally just started the story is incredible.”
Asked why fans should vote for Corrie in the Best Soap category this year, Sue laughed: “Obviously I’m in Corrie, so I like that one best! But I’m sure all the others are brilliant as well. I think we’ve come up with some fantastic stories, as all the soaps do, but I think there’s a real good energy and good vibe around all these stories this year.”
