Emmerdale fans are freaking out after the confirmation that Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) and Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) are set to fall back into each other’s arms.
Aaron and Robert have been a fan-favourite couple, affectionately dubbed Robron, for many years now.
Despite their breakup, fans of the ITV soap have been rooting for them to rekindle their romance – even more so since Robert’s return to the Emmerdale village.
Now, they are getting their wish, as Aaron and Robert are set to fall into bed together next week.
It comes after John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) ups the ante in his plot to bring down Robert by using his nephew against him.
John orchestrates a situation that sees Robert lose his temper with Harry just as John walks in to witness it.
Of course, John wastes no time in reporting back to sister Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins) and Aaron, before paying Robert another visit to goad him about how he has likely lost them both.
This tips Robert over the edge, and he begins to smash up his room.
However, Aaron arrives and proceeds to comfort him, before admitting that he has been pushing Robert away because he has unresolved feelings for him.
As one thing leads to another, they share a kiss and end up in bed together, much to the delight of Metro readers.
‘Oh yessss….Robron are back,’ Yvonne Worrall Bland celebrated, while Sonia Hayes added: ‘Yesssss.’
‘oh i’ve dreamed of times like these,’ Metro reader Ellie wrote on Twitter/X, while @miliganss_ agreed: ‘This happening is exactly what we deserve after the heartbreak they put us through all those years ago.’
Viewers will remember that Robert and Aaron first married in an unofficial ceremony, only for Robert to cheat with Rebecca White while Aaron was in prison for GBH.
Robert fathered a son, Seb, from this infidelity, but Aaron eventually forgave him and the pair officially married in October 2018.
Their marriage later came to an abrupt end after Robert was sent to prison for Lee Posner’s murder.
Aaron was left distraught when Robert cut all contact with him and implied that he was breaking up with him by handing back his wedding ring.
Now, it seems Aaron is prepared to put the past behind him as he helps Robert in his time of need.
‘Thank god, slowly getting back to normality. Can’t wait for the 3rd (technically 2nd official) wedding,’ Metro reader Chloe Morgan said.
Rebecca Baker was also thrilled at the new development, writing: ‘Fantastic always been Team Robron all the way.’
With Seb’s mum having sadly died, Caroline Lamare thinks Robron and Seb would make the perfect family unit. ‘Robert and Aaron perfect couple, with Seb even better,’ she wrote.
At the moment, it seems that this moment of passion may be exactly that, with actor Ryan Hawley explaining that Robert isn’t thinking about anything long-term.
‘It’s kind of a take it as it is, just this moment, kind of thing. They even say to each other, “we don’t want to think about any of that now, the circumstances that we’ve got is complicated. It is what it is right now, and then we’ll see from there”,’ he revealed.
‘And it kind of leads into the next phase of the story. They just take it for what it is, and it’s more of a kicking-off point or starting point for the next storyline.’
This hasn’t stopped fans from hoping for a more permanent reunion, with Metro reader Agnes Melvin arguing that it ‘is about time they get back together’.
However, Don Pate pointed out that John was still an obstacle the beloved couple would need to overcome, writing: ‘Need to get rid of that evil John Sugden first!’
John’s sinister behaviour has so far gone under the radar in Emmerdale, with the killer having seemingly got away with Nate Robinson’s murder.
The only person who seems to have sussed out his true nature is Robert – hence why John is so determined to bring him down.
Will he succeed in pushing Robert out of their lives, or will Robert successfully expose John for who he really is?
