Emmerdale has resolved the huge cliffhanger involving Robert Sugden, with the character’s life in serious danger.
Robert’s return to the village has been rocky, with his half-brother – and secret villain – John having already ruined his job opportunity with Caleb.
John is desperate to get rid of his love rival for good, especially after seeing Victoria’s black eye, which Robert accidentally caused during a traumatic nightmare.
This week, Robert tried to cheer himself up by setting up a date with a guy from a dating app. But this man had an ulterior motive, and he secretly drugged Robert when he tried to end their meet-up.

John realised that Robert had been spiked so stepped in and used his vulnerable state as an opportunity. He bundled his unconscious brother into a van and sped off, with Robert’s fate left up in the air.
In today’s episode, it was revealed that Robert had been held in John’s van overnight. In the morning, John grabbed a syringe and thought about his next sinister move.
Robert finally woke up and desperately tried to get out the van. He spotted John approaching with a syringe and fought back to protect himself – and the pair ended up scrapping on the ground outside.

As Robert continued his attack, John made it clear that he hadn’t kidnapped Robert and had in fact got him out of danger, as he had been spiked on his date.
Victoria approached her warring siblings and diffused the situation, explaining that it was her idea to keep him in the van overnight.
With John looking like the hero once again, Robert was shut down when he suggested that his brother could have been the one who spiked him in the first place.

“You want to buck your ideas up,” John told Robert once they were alone, “otherwise you’ll be out that door faster than a speeding bullet. So, reign it in and try and be grateful.”
