Things take a terrifying turn for the Weatherfield Police in Coronation Street next week when one of their own is left fighting for their life, leading DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) to make an unexpected admission.
Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) is excited to start his new placement in CID, but it soon becomes clear that working with DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) is going to be a challenge.
Following a long day of being largely ignored by his mentor, Craig confides in Lisa that he doesn’t think Kit rates his work.
Determined to buoy his spirits, Lisa urges him to do what he can to prove Kit wrong.
The opportunity to do just that arrives quickly, as Craig is called to a disturbance, where he is determined to prove himself.
However, the events that follow lead to Craig desperately needing an ambulance.

As paramedic Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey) leaps into action, Craig struggles to explain what has happened.
Soon, Lisa arrives, and is horrified by the extent of Craig’s injuries.
Craig is quickly loaded into the ambulance and rushed to hospital as Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) tells Lisa how she found him covered in blood.
The police officer is rushed to intensive care, where Lisa finds out that he has swelling on the brain.

As he regains consciousness, he tries again to explain what happened, but things take a horrifying turn when his condition suddenly deteriorates.
Desperate for news on her colleague, Lisa is quick to answer a call from fellow officer Jess with news of Craig’s condition.
After the traumatic day, Lisa goes home to girlfriend Carla Connor (Alison King) and declares that she wants to grab happiness where she can.
