Bobby Brazier has opened up about his character Freddie Slater’s upcoming departure from the BBC soap EastEnders.
Since his arrival on the show in 2022, Bobby has been at the heart of some gripping plots, including discovering the truth about his biological father and his rocky relationship with Anna Knight (played by Molly Rainford).
Although his exit has been confirmed, the details of how Freddie will leave Albert Square remain under wraps by the BBC.
Speaking to journalists at the National Film Awards red carpet, Bobby addressed Freddie Slater’s exit, saying: “He’s off.”
Reflecting on his time on the beloved BBC series, he shared: “It’s mixed feelings because EastEnders has been my first sort of real job and I’ve learned a lot there.”
“It feels like home and there is really a family sort of feeling amongst the cast and everyone else, so I will miss it and I’m very grateful for those three years.
“But, with that being said, I think variety is important,” he commented, hinting at his future acting ambitions.
Bobby also expressed his delight at being part of the legendary Slater clan, which boasts stars like Gillian Wright as Jean, Jessie Wallace as Kat, and Lacey Turner as Stacey, reports Belfast Live.
“I’m so pleased to be a Slater,” Bobby enthused. “I wouldn’t want to be in any other family. The Slaters are genuinely amazing.
“Lacey Turner; I always sing her praises and I love her so much. My Nanny Jean, Gillian, is incredible.
“I’m very lucky to watch them do what they do and try to copy them,” he humbly added.
Meanwhile, EastEnders enthusiasts have been buzzing with speculation about Bobby’s storyline following confirmation of his departure from the Square.
Many are hoping his exit might pave the way for the return of Freddie’s mum, Little Mo (Kacey Ainsworth), who has remained notably absent despite her son’s arrival in Walford back in 2022.
BBC viewers are desperately eager to see Kacey reprise her beloved character, with one fan posting on social media: “I doubt it but a Little Mo cameo for his exit would be perfect.”
Another supporter chimed in: “A Little Mo cameo would be brilliant especially on the 25th Anniversary of The Slaters,” adding, “If they keep this one under wraps this could be a great cameo and a huge exit for Freddie.”
A third viewer pleaded: “Can we get a Jane Beale style cameo for Freddie’s exit from Little Mo pls.”
Little Mo, who graced Albert Square from 2000 to 2006, departed after husband Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) confessed he couldn’t raise Freddie upon discovering the lad wasn’t his biological son.
With actress Kacey having never completely dismissed a potential comeback to Walford, devoted fans remain hopeful for her return.
