To kick off a new broadcasting schedule in 2026, the ITV soaps will join forces for a special episode.
Little is known about the plot and who will appear in the episode, but producers have confirmed that a huge stunt will have consequences for residents in both Weatherfield and the Dales.
Speaking to Luke Hamnett on the Live Laugh Luke podcast, Danny, who plays Aaron Dingle in the soap, stressed how secret the project is.
“Everybody’s asking the same question. We don’t know. We know who’s involved, if you’re involved, that kind of thing, that’s ultimately it. For these exact reasons, if they give you too much information, you could slip up,” he said.
“I genuinely don’t know, and I’m as interested as everyone else to find out what they’re going to do with it. It’s very much a secret, closed-off project at the moment. The powers that be know what’s going on; it trickles down to us eventually.
“The whispers are September/October time for filming it, I don’t know whether that means it’s going to be on around that time or next year, I promise you I know absolutely nothing.”
However, he assured fans of the shows that it won’t be as brief as the crossovers Corrie and Emmerdale have had previously.
“The one thing they’ve said is that it won’t be someone walking into the Rovers and going ‘Oh I’ve got the wrong pub’, it’s not going to be like that,” he said.
“They don’t want to make it look like it’s just a p**s take. They want to make it a really good, high-end drama. I hope they do. Soap for me has changed my life.”
Fans will also be able to choose which two characters – one from each soap – they would like to see meet and interact in a scene, with details on how to vote set to be released soon.
