Shawn and Belle are over…at least for now.
Shawn and Belle are back in Salem, but love definitely isn’t in the air between them. This Days of our
Lives couple is over and out and getting a divorce. And, we have to say, we’re not upset about it.
Forever Doesn’t Always Work
Sometimes love just isn’t enough, and that seems very much the case between Shawn (Brandon Beemer) and Belle (Martha Madison). They’ve loved each other for most of their lives, but they’ve begun to realize adoring one another isn’t going to save this very broken marriage.
The Blame Game
Shawn went off the deep end quite a while ago, and after shooting his father, he has yet to bounce back. In fact, he’s currently sitting in the pub nursing a bottle and trying to drown his sorrows. His alcohol dependence isn’t something Belle needs to or should put up with. 
That’s not to say Belle is off the hook for the downfall of the marriage. All that flirting with EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) way back when hurt her union, and it seems like that special spark between them is still very much there. That’s not something Shawn needs to or should put up with.
Unfortunately, it looks like time did very little to heal any wounds between them. It’s better to cut ties now while they can still be in the same room than let these hard feelings fester and destroy them even more. Divorce is never easy, and it’s always heartbreaking, but it’s not worse than staying together when it’s clearly not right anymore.
The Road Back Home
Officially, going their separate ways is just what they need to kickstart their lives and start putting all the pieces back together. For Shawn, this means hitting rock bottom and picking himself back up. For Belle, we’d love to see her hook up with EJ and realize the grass isn’t greener on the other side.
Do we think this means this is the end forever? No. Not at all. One day we hope Shawn and Belle will find their way back together but they need this break. Shawn needs to get his head right and Belle needs to realize he is, in fact, her one true pairing.
