Coronation Street‘s Abi Webster declares that her marriage to Kevin is over next week, before she runs into Carl’s open arms. But will they be brave enough to give their romance a proper shot?

Having uncovered Kev’s cancer lie, furious Abi tracks down Carl and insists that she’s done with her husband, and the forbidden pair waste no time at all before they passionately lock lips.

“It’s the moment Carl’s been waiting for,” our Corrie insider points out. “In the garage, the pair grab each other and finally give into their magnetic attraction.

“Although, let’s be clear that Carl isn’t the one to expose Kev’s secret. Earlier in the day, he just about resists the temptation to reveal all when Abi lays into him for kicking up trouble, but in the end it’s Ty that pretty much lets the cat out of the bag.”

While chatting to Tyrone, Abi explains that she’s planning to tell Jack that his dad’s cancer hasn’t responded to chemotherapy.

But being the moral man that Tyrone is, he finds it difficult to go along with the sick lie and assures Abi that Kevin isn’t going to die anytime soon.

Naturally, Abi makes a beeline for her husband and confronts him about his best mate’s words – which forces Kevin to admit the extent of his deceit.

“It’s heartbreaking to watch the couple fall apart,” our insider continues. “Kevin apologises with all his heart, before trying to explain that he thought his lie would stop Abi from leaving him for his brother.

“It’s clear that Kevin is terrified to lose Abi, but when all’s said and done, it’s perhaps not too much of a surprise that she finds solace in Carl…”

Later in the week, Abi does her best to keep up appearances in front of Jack. It becomes clear that she hasn’t entirely cut things off with Kevin – which, surprisingly, Carl seems content with.

While at work, Carl tells Abi that she’s made the right decision to stay with Kevin, and they should keep their distance going forward. What could explain Carl’s sudden change of heart?

In the aftermath of the drama, Kevin sacks his brother on the basis that he can’t trust him. In turn, Carl agrees that he could do with a fresh start, which allows Kevin to spin yet another lie to Abi.

Desperate, Kevin pretends that Carl quit the garage and announced that he wants to move away – leaving Abi feeling privately heartbroken.

Meanwhile, Debbie tries to convince Carl to stay with his family in Weatherfield.

Will Carl decide to stick around after all? And if so, will he and Abi find a way back to each other?
