Coronation Street fans were left in tears after last night’s emotional episode which saw Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) tragically die.
The police officer was attacked while on duty by Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton), who struck him over the head with a baseball bat.
Craig was rushed to hospital, but last night’s scenes saw his condition deteriorate, with doctors forced to perform CPR.
Tragically, they were unable to revive him, and Craig was pronounced dead, much to the devastation of viewers.
Metro readers were quick to share their thoughts, with Christina writing: ‘Poor Craig. I must admit I was teary when he flat lined. It’s a shame he’s gone.’
‘Such a sad episode,’ Fiona agreed, adding: ‘I did cry.’

‘So heartbreaking,’ Janet said, while Evelyn admitted: ‘I was heartbroken.’
On Twitter/X, fans were equally devastated, with one writing: ‘What a sad ending even though I knew it was coming yes I did cry!’
‘Well. That was heartbreaking,’ another said, while a third penned: ‘Nan’s just phoned me crying cause Craig Tinker died on Corrie.’
Speaking about filming his final scenes on the show, actor Colson Smith said: ‘The last few weeks were mint. They were perfect and it was a really nice way to go out.
‘I worked with great people, and I feel very lucky, and I felt very confident in everything that we did. I feel like the story worked.’
The actor announced his exit from the show in January, revealing that he had been told his journey on the cobbles was set to come to an end.

He told Metro and other publications that he had wanted Craig to be killed off, and insisted that there would be no going back, quashing the possibility of any ghost or flashback scenes.
‘It feels like it’s done,’ he said. ‘It feels like it’s finished, like I’ve got everything that I’ve got from Coronation Street and that’s it now.
‘So it felt very much like a thank you, goodbye, goodnight type thing, because I know there’s no return for Craig and Colson in the future.
