A Coronation Street satr has announced their exciting return to the beloved ITV soap.
Reece Dinsdale first graced the cobbles in 2008 as Joe McIntyre, Tina’s (played by Michelle Keegan) dad. During his time on the street, Joe was central to a number of major storylines.
In 2010, he tied the knot with Gail Platt (Helen Worth), becoming her fourth husband, but later that year, Joe met a tragic end when his plan to fake his own death for insurance money went horribly wrong.
After waving goodbye to Coronation Street, Reece took on the role of baddie Paul Ashdale in Emmerdale from 2020 until his character’s demise in 2022.

Now, Reece has excitedly confirmed his return to the soap world – not in front of the camera, but behind it. Sharing the news on his X account, Reece disclosed that he will be directing some episodes of the soap later this year, reports Leicestershire Live.
Responding to a fan’s curiosity about his “next adventure” Reece tweeted: “Another acting role (which, unfortunately, I can’t announce until the theatre does) followed, in the new year, by directing stints on #Emmerdale and #CoronationStreet I’m a very fortunate chap.”
Fans were ecstatic to learn of Reece’s latest career move. One fan wrote: “Gosh how fab for you. You must be thrilled to bits.”
Another commented: “No, you are a very talented skilled chap which is why you are in big demand – and I am so happy for you, you deserve it.”

A third added: “You’re a very talented chap, Reece. Congratulations.”
Reece has become quite the regular behind the camera on Coronation Street, having directed a number of episodes since 2022 and also taking charge of over 40 episodes of Emmerdale since 2020.
Beyond the world of soaps, Reeve has had his hand in directing other TV projects like Pitching In, Moving On, and Secrets and Words.
Reflecting on his journey into directing, Reece shared with the media: “I was actually directing on Emmerdale when I was asked, right out of the blue, if I would like to play Paul.”
He joyfully added, “I’m delighted to announce, therefore, that I shall begin directing once again on the show in a couple of weeks’ time. I’m the cat that got the cream!”.
