The Upside of Cheating?

Oh, we’re not condoning infidelity. But if General Hospital cad Alan Quartermaine hadn’t stepped out on wife Monica — seen here having none of it (or whatever is less than none of it) — Jason Morgan would never have been born, and with him, we wouldn’t learn until decades later, his twin brother, Drew Cain.

Brothers From Other Mothers

Clueless as to his byzantine origin story, little Drew (originally Billy Miller as an adult) was raised by Nurse Betsy Frank, who was theoretically only looking after him until Mom returned to claim him. What with being murdered and all, Susan Moore never went back. So during Drew’s formative years, he connected big-time with the son of his mother’s loco cousin, Heather Webber — Franco Baldwin.

But Is It Art?

After Lil’ Franco pushed Lil’ Drew down the stairs, or so Betsy said, she sent the latter away for his own safety (and lied that he’d not only danced around but kicked the bucket). But, in fact, the tykes were bonded for life. Franco even painted the two of them to commemorate their past, fraught as it might have been.

The Choke’s on You

In 2018, Franco remembered that he’d been molested by Jim Harvey and had only given Drew that game-changing shove — accidentally, it bears mentioning — to save him from the same fate. That very year, Drew served justice as best he could by putting an end to Jim in order to protect Franco. (As you can see, he needed some protecting!) But we’re getting ahead of ourselves. When first we met Drew in 2014, neither we nor he knew that he was Drew. Everyone thought that they should be saying…

‘Welcome Back, Jason!’

Elizabeth Webber was the first to draw the conclusion that her heavily bandaged new patient wasn’t so much Jake Doe as he was her lost love, the Mob hitman known as Stone Cold. Seeing a chance to obtain for them the future they’d been denied by his criminal lifestyle, she remained mum about his identity — hey, his “widow,” Sam McCall had moved on — and made plans to marry him posthaste.

Truth… *and* Consequences

As so often happens, Liz’s big secret came out, and Drew, upon stepping into the life that he came to think was his — Jason’s — “reunited” with Sam. And when we say “reunited,” we mean reunited in such a way that nine months later, they welcomed into the world a daughter, Scout (who technically was named Emily after the twins’ late sister).

Identity Crisis

When Jason was resurrected — because let’s be real, no one ever really dies in Port Charles — Drew was sent reeling. If he wasn’t Jason, um, who was he? Jason’s heretofore-unknown brother, it turned out. That was gonna take some getting used to.

When Past Meets Present

In no time, poor Drew’s marriage to Sam evaporated, and he wound up entangled anew in the life of his (surprise!) babymama, Kim Nero, and their terminally ill son, Oscar. Don’t jump, kid; you don’t have long as it is!

Life After Death

As if Drew’s life weren’t complicated enough… ! Following Oscar’s demise, and Kim’s attempted rape of Drew (how better to create a replacement son, she thought), he had to try to save Franco from having his memories implanted in his brother of choice’s head by the evil Shiloh. (One name is enough for him; he was as bad as Cher is cool. Also of note, Drew didn’t succeed, and for a while there, Franco was wandering around with his buddy’s thoughts in his head and old flame in his arms.)

Going Down?

In 2019, Drew was on his way to Afghanistan by way of an elevator at General Hospital when last we saw him. We were told that he never arrived at his destination, that the plane disappeared. It was assumed that he was dead. That is, it was assumed by folks who weren’t regular viewers of General Hospital. The rest of us, we bided our time until we were served up…

This Year’s Model

In the summer of 2021, Drew was revealed to be alive and… well, not well, exactly, but alive. And on the plus side, he looked a lot like Cameron Mathison, who had previously played Ryan Lavery on All My Children. As you’d expect, questions immediately presented themselves. Foremost among them: Since Sam had split from Jason, would she gravitate away from new boo Dante Falconeri and toward her ex?

That Would Be a ‘No’

As unfinished as the business between Drew and Sam might have been, she remained committed to Dante… even as fundamental differences between Sonny Corinthos’ firstborn son and his ex-lover began to reveal themselves. So where did that leave Drew?

If You Can’t Be With the One You Love…

… love the one you’re with. Sounded like a good motto to Drew when he found himself at loose ends just as Carly Spencer was dealt the one-two punch of Jason’s death and her split from Sonny. In no time, every room they entered started to look like it would make a fine kissing booth.

Stick a Fork in ’Em, They’re Done

Not even Drew going to prison over his and Carly’s insider-trading scheme could keep their relationship afloat when Jason rose from the grave yet again. Heck, Drew didn’t even wait for his brother to cause problems between them, he dumped his girlfriend quicker than you could say, “It’s not me, it’s you… and him.”

Nice Work If Ya Can Get It

Not only did Drew break up with Carly, he pink-slipped her at Crimson, too, in order to reinstall as editor-in-chief the woman whose whistleblowing had sent him up the river: Nina Reeves. As you can see, they found a way to break the tension between them at the office.

Shock the Vote

Never mind that he’s an ex-con who has been involved with the molls of not one but two mobsters. Drew still decided in the summer of 2024 that he should run for a seat in Congress. As if to prove what a trustworthy candidate he was, the next thing he did was…

Forget Kissing Babies

Instead, Drew set off fireworks by sharing a forbidden lip-lock with nephew Michael Corinthos’ wife, Willow Tait, who seemed eager to show him just how much she’d miss him if he moved to D.C.

The Sheet Hit the Fan

When Michael found out that Uncle Drew was having a torrid affair with his wife, he hopped into bed with ex-girlfriend Sasha Gilmore and began divorce proceedings. Before he could make Willow his ex, however, he was badly burned in an explosion… during which she was schtupping Drew.

‘I Want You at Arm’s Length… Maybe Even Two Arms’

As Drew’s fling with Willow became the talk of Port Charles, the two of them doubled down on their relationship — which only further fueled Nina’s desire to break them up. She was so eager to save Willow from her loverboy that she was even willing to team up with archenemy Carly!
