In the Horton Square, EJ threatens to have Gabi arrested for assaulting the DA. Gabi

says she should leave a mark then, tries to slap him again, but he grabs her wrist

warning, “Don’t you dare!”

Suddenly, JJ appears and orders EJ to get his hands off her! Gabi is shocked and wonders why JJ is back in Salem. JJ tells EJ to let go of Gabi, or he’ll have to deal with him. EJ lets Gabi go, and JJ thinks EJ hasn’t changed much and is still a pompous ass who mistreats women. EJ says Abagail was an eager participant in their affair, just as Gabi was. JJ yells at him not to talk about his sister. EJ apologizes as he knows what happened to Abigail was a tragedy, as was the ordeal with that imposter, Cat.

JJ reveals Cat is why he’s back in Salem. He wants to make sure Cat Greene pays for what she did. EJ reveals that the charges against Cat have been dropped, and she’s a free woman. Gabi asks what is wrong with him and how he could let that snake go free. JJ agrees, but EJ says this is none of his business. He tells JJ to file a complaint with City Hall if he doesn’t like it. JJ decides to file a complaint right now and slugs EJ.

EJ goes to strike back, but Gabi steps in between them. EJ threatens to have JJ arrested for assault. Gabi reminds EJ he said that to her earlier, but it’s hard to abuse your power when there is an eyewitness. She says she’ll testify that he shoved JJ first and initiated it. EJ claims neither of them is worth the trouble and storms off.

JJ and Gabi sit down. He doesn’t understand why EJ let Cat go. Gabi says it’s probably because she’s guilty, and the DA loves putting innocent people away. She says because of EJ, she lost a year of her life and her marriage. Gabi grabs some ice for JJ’s hand, and he asks what she and EJ were fighting about when he arrives. She reveals it was over his role in the ending of her marriage, and she and Stefan have filed for divorce. She thanks him for standing up for her, hoping it might mean hat all is forgiven between them. JJ says what she did to Julie… hacking her pacemaker… Gabi knows she shouldn’t have asked the question. He admits that memory is still painful for him, and he’d be lying if he said he wasn’t still angry.

Gabi understands. She is horrified she sank so low, but she’s not that person anymore. She’s determined to be a better person. He says he’s glad to hear that. She hopes he’ll give her a chance to prove she’s changed. He says he will. She thanks him for coming to her rescue. He says she rescued him years ago that Christmas Eve. She was there for him on the darkest night of his life and saved his life. He is very grateful for that and always will be. JJ decides to get going and figure out what is going on with this Cat Greene fiasco. She asks him to keep her posted and says it was good to see him. He says the same.

At Rafe’s place, Jada calls her sister to tell her about Rafe’ proposal and sends her a photo of the ring. After the call, Rafe appears, and they kiss. He finds a gift on the counter, something she thought would suit her handsome fiancé. He opens it, and it’s his commissioner badge. She is happy to let him be boss in the workplace again, but at home, he answers to her. Rafe responds, “Yes maam!” and they kiss.

At The Brady Pub, Roman asks Paulina how he can help her. She is seated at a table and waiting for Rafe and Jada but orders a basket of mozzarella sticks to celebrate the clean bill of health she got from her doctor. He tells her that’s great news.

Stephanie walks in, and Paulina says, “Well, if it isn’t my beautiful daughter Chanel, give me a hug.” Roman is puzzled and wonders if the doctors mistakingly gave her a clean bill of health. Stephanie says nothing is wrong with Paulina, who is making a joke. Paulina says her eyes are fine, unlike her idiot son-in-law’s. Roman has heard about what happened at Johnny’s party. Paulina says Johnny’s acting like a fool lately, just like his father. Stephanie takes some of the blame, but Paulina doesn’t blame her and won’t make any more jokes at her expense.

Paulina invites Stephanie to join her and tell her about Mr. Abtastic. Roman excuses himself, and Stephanie admits to Paulina that what happened at the hospital started things up between her and Alex again until Abe and Kate put their feet down about workplace relationships. However, she feels she and Alex are better off as friends.

Later, Jada and Rafe arrive just as Roman brings out Paulina’s mozzarella sticks. Stephanie has departed. Paulina spots Jada’s ring, and she and Roman congratulate the couple. Paulina can’t wait to hear all the details, but it will have to wait until after they finish up some business. Rafe says his doctors have cleared him to resume his commissioner duties immediately. Paulina says she has thought about that and decided it’s not a good idea. Rafe and Jada insist Rafe is capable of doing this job. Paulina says they misunderstand. She explains that the Salem PD is short-staffed, so she wants Rafe back as a detective and Jada to stay on as commissioner.

Jada says she only stood in for Rafe while he was in a coma and never wanted to replace him permanently. Paulina says she understands, but she feels this is the right move. Paulina argues that Jada has been kicking butt and taking names, crime has been down, and she oversaw many high-profile cases. Jada says she’s flattered, but has to decline, she can’t take Rafe’s job. Paulina says the job doesn’t belong to Rafe, but to someone she sees as fit for it. She tells Rafe this isn’t personal, but she thinks things have been going well, and she doesn’t want to shake things up.

Roman brings the burgers they ordered earlier, and Paulina gets a text and has to rush off and take care of business. Jada tells Rafe this isn’t what she wanted. He knows, but it’s what Paulina wants, and he should consider himself lucky he still has a job as a detective. She doesn’t know what to say. He does and congratulates her. He then returns the commissioner badge to her.

At the hospital, Alex talks to Chanel about meeting Joy and her odd reaction to his comment that she was a thorn in Chanel’s side. He thinks she seemed to think he was talking about real life and not their characters. Alex shifts the topic and says things are going well with her and Johnny, and he is glad she gave him another chance. He understands jealousy, as it’s what first blew up his relationship with Stephanie, as he was jealous of Chad.

Chanel knows he and Stephanie had something going on more recently. Alex says that was before Abe and Kate laid down the law about fraternizing between coworkers. Chanel asks Alex if he ever asked Stephanie about her feelings for him, but he says she’s made it clear they are just friends. However, she did admit she was jealous when she thought he was sleeping with a castmate. Chanel says Stephanie clearly has feelings for him, and she thinks he has feelings for her too. Alex says she is beautiful, funny and the first woman he gave his heart to. However, he doesn’t want either of them to get hurt again, as she is the best person he knows. Chanel says she just wanted a yes or no, but he gave her a sonnet, and maybe Leo can write it into the show.

Stephanie shows up and asks what is going on. Chanel says they were just talking about their scene, and she needs to go run lines with Joy, so she’ll see them around.

Alex asks Stephanie what brings Stephanie to the hospial. She actually needs a favor from him. She pitched a photo shoot to a magazine and just heard back from them, and it has to happen now. She asks him if he can come back to the office and shoot some photos. He asks if he should grab Joy and Chanel? She says this is boys only shoot and is for Playgal.

Joy finds Johnny in an exam room. She says she met Alex and heard Johnny just shot the big love scene with Faith and Arrow. She can see he’s upset, and Johnny says he is upset about what they did and he has to tell his wife the truth. Joy calls that the dumbest thing he could do. He has to make things right and clear his conscience. Joy asks, “What about me? You’ll be putting a target on my back!” He says she’s not in a relationship, but she insists she is. It’s one with her employers and other cast members. She has no idea how far Chanel would go to make her pay. She hears Stephanie almost got fired for sleeping with a coworker, and she might not be so lucky and dodge that bullet. She also says her mother already thinks she ruins everything she touches, so don’t do this to her. She points out it could ruin things for him and Chanel as well. She begs him to keep his mouth shut for both of their sakes.

Chanel appears and asks what is going on. Joy says they were having a disagreement about a scene, and she pleaded her case. Johnny says he sees Joy’s point and will defer to her for now. Chanel says she came by to see if Joy wanted to run lines for her first scene. Joy says that would be great. Chanel tells Johnny that she’ll see him at home and gives him a hug.

Joy and Chanel sit down with their scripts, and Chanel asks if she was able to rent a room at The Brady Pub. Joy says she did, and hopes her mom wasn’t too much the other night. Chanel says Nancy was a blast, and they promised to look out for her. She invites her over to dinner tonight so they can get to know one another. She won’t take no for an answer, so Joy agrees.

At the DiMera mansion, Johnny finds his dad putting ice on his fat lip. He asks what happened to him. EJ says it’s not worth talking about. EJ heard about his birthday party and is sorry. Johnny says he really screwed up, and he’s usually not so insecure and jealous. EJ says it happens to all of them, and he and Chanel will work it out as he didn’t do anything too egregious. Johnny says that he did something stupid and egregious. EJ asks what he did. Johnny swears his dad to secrecy and tells his dad he cheated on Chanel.

At the Body and Soul office, Stephanie is on the phone with the magazine and says their hunks are excited about the shoot. Alex comes out in a sexy Robin Hood outfit and doesn’t think he can do this. He states he looks ridiculous. She tells him he looks hot and sexy as hell. He says the strap from his quiver is digging into his chest, so she tries to loosen it. They get close and almost kiss but are interrupted when Stephanie gets a text. She says the photographer is here, and she needs to let him in. She tells him not to worry, and she looks great. She thanks him for doing this. He tells her, “Anything for you.” She leaves and fans herself on the way out.
