Coronation Street fans say ‘I don’t like that’ as Jodie Ramsey’s exit ‘hinted’

The new character is causing a divide among viewers and some are worried the star who plays her has hinted at her exit

She’s definitely causing a divide among Coronation Street fans and those who are enjoying Jodie Ramsey in Weatherfield are worried the star who plays her has hinted at her exit.

As fans know, actress Olviai Frances Brown joined the ITV soap back in January as the new character, who ended up being revealed to be the long-lost sister of cobbles favourite, Shona Platt.

But to begin with, her identity was unknown as her arrival came during the long-running show’s epic crossover with Emmerdale, which aired in January and featured a horror multi-vehicle crash with the lives of those from Weatherfield and the Dales at risk.

While not directly involved in the crash, the chaotic aftermath allowed Jodie time to make an escape. But when Corrie cop DC Kit Green gave chase, she ran straight into a tree, causing her to be among the injured, which is how she ended up at the hospital.

And it was there that she saw Shona, who was involved in the crash with her husband, David Platt, and ended up going into early labour with their daughter, Harper, who needed complex surgery at birth as she had been found to have a mass on her neck during a routine scan.

After following them to Weatherfield General, Jodie revealed herself to Shona and a confused David, who later invited her to stay at No.8, where Jodie has started a plan to get in between her sister and her husband, seemingly trying to take over his sibling’s life.

During Wednesday’s (February 25) episode of the long-running show, viewers saw Shona invite Jodie to join her for a pamper day at Audrey’s salon, wanting to thank her for being so helpful since moving to Weatherfield, which came as Shona gave birth to her daughter, Harper, with complex medical needs after she was found to have a tumour on her neck.

Jodie appeared delighted at the thought and later, relished in the praise as Shona made a toast to her. But her joy turns to jealousy when the other guests praise Shona and David as the perfect couple, with Corrie fans already noticing that Jodie seems keen to cosy up to David, and take over her sibling’s life.

But Jodie’s time in Weatherfield could be short, as she was revealed among the five potential victims of a murder set to rock the cobbles in April. A flashforward aired earlier in February showed a shocked and anxious Betsy Swain telling detectives about finding the dead body of someone she knows.

Dressed in wedding clothes, she explained she had been at her mum Lisa Swain’s and Carla Connor’s wedding, but was heading into town to continue the celebrations when she made the shocking discovery. As the episode returned to the present day, Corrie viewers saw how the behaviour of the five characters could lead to their possible death two months later – with those being Jodie, Theo Silverton, Maggie Driscoll, Megan Walsh and Carl Webster.

But it was amid her latest Corrie scenes that new soap star Olivia took to Instagram with a post featuting her first official snap as Jodie, which she captioned: “Came to the cobbles looking for closure and maybe a bit of chaos. How are we all liking Jodie? Would you trust her? Thank you for all the kind messages. I’ve loved every second of bringing her to life. @coronationstreet.”

And some were worried that the tense of the message sealed her fate on the cobbles. One said: ” “Past tense quote?! Nooooo! So intrigued by your character, and your portrayal is fabulous!” Another commented: “I don’t like that this is giving last day of filming, need Jodie to STAY.”

Others, however, were keen to heap praise. One posted: “CAN’T STAND JODIE!!! But that’s how you know you’re smashing your role when the audience can’t bear a villain. Excited to see what she’s up to.” Another wrote: “I’m loving her she a keeper.” A third added: “Love her!! She’s so mysterious and Stiring up trouble! But in a way she’s sweet and we care for her!!!!! Brilliant mix she’s so interesting.”
