EXIT SHOCK Coronation Street favourite Aadi bows out as emotional farewell signals the end of his Weatherfield journey.

Coronation Street star Adam Hussain has bid farewell to the ITV soap after five years.

The actor announced the news on Instagram in April, so viewers have had quite a while to wait to see his final scenes as Aadi Alahan.

‘I guess the secrets out now! As some of you may have heard, I will be leaving Coronation Street for new pastures,’ he said at the time, alongside a series of photos from his time on the show.

He continued: ‘Over the 5 years I’ve spent there I have learned so much about the world and the industry and now feel I am ready to spread my wings a little. I have made friends that will last a lifetime and will surely miss such a special family!

‘This isn’t a farewell for Aadi however, more like a see you later!

‘I’m excited to see what the future brings! Thank you Coronation Street for giving me such a privilege of portraying this character for you. Until next time!’

How did Aadi leave Coronation Street?

Aadi has found himself in hot water over the last few months, making a number of errors at the corner shop in dad Dev Alahan’s (Jimmi Harkishin) absence.

With Dev in India, Aadi was hoping that he could prove himself to be a good businessman, but things didn’t go to plan. He’d ordered far too much stock, and knew he wouldn’t be able to sell it.

Determined to find a solution, he staged a robbery, in the hope he could claim back any losses on the insurance.

However, when Dev found out about this, he was beyond furious, and things only got worse from there. He learnt that Aadi was responsible for hosting a party at their family home, which ended in disaster.

As viewers will recall, Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey) brought LSD to the event, with Aadi confiscating it and deciding to share with Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) and Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher).

However, when Aadi left his share unattended, Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton) picked it up by mistake and began to suffer serious hallucinations of her abuser Joel Deering (Calum Lill).

Having placed great shame on the Alahan moniker, Dev decided that he should start afresh in India with his cousin Vikram Desai (Chris Bisson).

While initially against the idea, Aadi realised there was very little left for him in Weatherfield and went ahead with the plan.

What has Adam said about his exit?

In a video shared to Corrie’s socials, Adam sat down in the Alahan living room to say his goodbyes and thank fans for their support.

‘I just want to say thank you so much to everyone for watching Aadi on Corrie over the years,’ he began.

‘These past five years have been so educational and such an experience. I’ve made friends that will last a lifetime, I’ve grown, but not just as an actor, but as a person as well.

‘I just want to say, it’s not a goodbye forever, more like a see you later.

‘If you want to keep watching me, I’ll be around in other stuff so keep your eyes peeled.’

Adam Hussain’s next project revealed

Adam has already filmed a new short film titled Spice For Life, which wasreleased on YouTube this week.

The 12-minute drama sees Adam take on the role of a foster child struggling to connect with his care worker, played by Hollyoaks actress Kirsty-Leigh Porter, until the pair bond over a love of cooking.

The film was created by filmmaker Saleem Miah, and is based on his own experiences growing up in the foster care system.

Speaking to ITV News, Saleem explained: ‘I grew up in foster care myself, I moved about quite a lot. I grew up in Oldham, and I was placed with a lot of white families, which I think is quite like a unique, interesting upbringing.

‘I’ve always wanted to make a film about it. The story it’s fictional, but a lot of the scenes in it I have kind of got from my own life, really.

‘But I’ve been really lucky in the sense that I’ve met people along the way that have supported me.’
